Hello,
I am new to the world of airguns. Recently moved from the island to the Cariboo. I am interested in getting an air rifle for rodents and small game. Thought a 22 cal would be suitable. I don't have my PAL yet so I was thinking of getting a non-PAL rifle and tune it up later if that is feasble. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers Doug

Hi,
My budget $200 to $400. Would depend on make and if it comes with scope I could add a scope. Also could it be easily tuned to like 800fps or something like. Just so much to explore.

A Benjamin Trail in .22 sub 500 fps may be a good choice. It has a gas ram system, so accuracy comes a bit easier than with a steel spring. I started out with one of these, taking hundreds of ground squirrels before upgrading the gas ram to a PAL rated one, then taking even more ground squirrels as my range had been extended.

Hi,
My neighbor has a crosman quest 500 break barrel. I tried it a few times with good results. So I am leaning to spring type rifle.

I'd get your PAL first then purchase the high power right away.
It will cost more to upgrade it later.

Welcome to the forum.
Air rifles are fun on gophers. I've shot them to 56 yards with my HW97 in .177. So much fun I bought the same rifle model in .22 for more power.
Both are PAL rifles with under levers & much more accurate than less expensive Springers. The .22 is giving me 3/8" groups at 30yds so far using hunting pellets. I suggest to save more money and buy quality to start with. I wish I had.
