Well whatcha think of working with the bloodwood? I had a little chuckle when I ws packaging it up to ship to you. Nasty dust eh?

Here's what you do next: Buy some minwax paste wax, and a 6" buffing wheel from CT. Chuck the wheel up in the drill press and spin it as fast as it will go. Put a coat of wax on the grips, let it dry for 10 minutes and hit it with the wheel. Looks like multi coat laquer.

Hey Kevin...If you want do do a set with a little more challenge, but even more beautiful results, I have a piece of Pomme Sappelle with ribon stripe figure big enough for maybe 2 sets. About an inch thick.
Wanna trade me some parts?

Sorry this took so long! Here is the wood, (sorry about the crappy pic) it is pomme/ribbon stripe sapelle. The "bups" and "Stripes" you see arent really there...it's all figure in the wood. It looks like wet satin!

The board in the pic is the one I was talking about, I was saving it for a personal project....but I just dont have the time. It is UN-finished...you should see this stuff when oiled! It is a deep mahogany red, and the grain "shimmers" and moves in the light. It is from the African Ivory Coast.

Theres probably enough wood there for a bunch of grips. It measures about 8 1/4" X 18" and 15/16 thick.

Here's a box made of sapelle (not NEAR the quality of figure as this board though) It will give you an idea of colour, and the "shimmer" I was talking about.

Image

BTW...I also have a piece of the quilted bigleaf the top of that box is made from. Big enough for one set of grips....but THAT would cost alot of parts....like a whole 2240 :D
