I picked up 2 1077's canadian version "Sub 495 fps" for 74.99 each,
It was a good price and handy to let friends and family use if they like, Also a good size to get the kids into airgunning.

Anyway I was testing them out over the chrony and getting about 350 fps MAX 300 was about the average, So needless to say that will not do!

I modded both as fallows, I opened up the nozzle to US spec, added an oring to the nozzle (PAL versons have an oring non pal do not) Figured that should help it out enough......NOPE 350 average, So I attacked the valve spring, I cut a coil off of the spring and put them both back together. Now shooting 450 ish ok Im happy with that for the one I will lend to friends and family.

Now I want to get mine shooting harder, 550 fps with 8gr pellets is my goal Does anyone have any input on what else to do?

Does adding weight to the hammer really help? what am I missing about how they detuned this from the 625 claim for the pal version shooting lead?

They may have detuned them a bit via weakened hammer spring.
I didn't buy one when Peavey had them- too many other coals in the fire.
You might want to try shimming the hammer spring, or a heavier/lengthier replacement spring.

I do know that in the past, crosman has choked them off at the transfer port with a small restrictor plate washer under the port...

I was curious too so I looked at the parts list. Crosman typically mentions optional parts or they make a whole new parts list. So, I noticed ~5 parts between the co2 and barrel that list three different sizes. Or is that how you discovered the O-ring? A light hammer or spring sounds like something they might do on some guns, but I don't think so in this design. Could it also be the cold? They no doubt made it to be 500fps in the summer, and winter temps can easily drop the pressure to half. I was thinking crony it indoors after running the co2 under hot water.
That gun looks like it's begging to be bulk filled, do they make a kit?

There is a air source adapter, not hard to go bulk fill and that is my plan
