Hi guys,

After restoring a Diana 27 from the late 50s, early 60s, I've taken the challenge of restoring my own Diana Star. The Diana Star model is basically a Diana 24 with a painted stock (mine is black, but you could get it in blue, red, and yellow as well, and maybe white, I don't remember...).

There isn'tmuch information on this variation online. Maybe this was a local (Portugal) thing, I don't knnow...

Anyway, this is a model 24 from December 1988 (so say the markings on the compressor tube), with a black stock, that has been forgotten in a house in the country for the last (too) many years.

I've completely disassembled it, took all the metal parts to bare metal, and refinished everything. Oiled it up good (old style oiling) and it's ready to go!

I have a problem with the stock though... It's black with some white print on it, and to refurbish the stock I'll mess up the print, which I can't replicate in any way. Any ideas anyone? I thin k I could do a really good job on the stock, but as I want to keep it all original, I would need to be able to replicate the print...

Here's some photos.

Enjoy!

Hi!

Yes, I will not mess with the stock. At least not for now. I thought of making a stencil (custom made) and refurbish the stock, paint it black and then stencil on the white sripts, but I think it will not be as good as the original, so I'll leave it alone for now.

There was another version, the Diana Sport, that also had a coloured stock that was based on the Diana 34. This Diana Star was a christmas present, and actually the one I had asked was the Diana Sport but for some reason I was given the Star. I think this hapened because I was 8 at the time and probably the guy at the store told them that for an 8 yo the mod.24 would be more appropriate... :)

I'll keep posting pictures as I advance the refurbishing process

Cheers

GCA
