Well boy was I duped. When I bought my lynx, I was under the Impression it came detuned but that I could crank up the power adjuster. Nope. It's maxed out at 455 fps shooting 14.3 gr pellets. I emailed the dealer, who said they are detuned with the hammer spring. So, I need to figure out how to choose a hammer spring that will get me close to 500fps when the adjuster is backed all the way out. Where does one even buy hammer springs? :hsmash

I have no idea if you have your PAL or not.... but if the gun can be tuned for over 500 fps by just adjusting the preload, it will no longer be a non-PAL airgun, and you will have to have your PAL.... That is exactly why the hammer spring was replaced with a weaker one....

The first detuned models of the lynx that came into canada, were just backed all the way off at the hammer spring adjustment. There is several reviews, including a few on this forum, that state that. As long as my rifle is not shooting over the 500fps limit, I'm within the law. Hence why I asked how to push it close to the 500fps limit, instead of asking how to get it to 950.

But this statement is inconsistent with your original post:

The meaning in this sentence seems crystal clear; your intention is to find a hammer spring which gets close to the 500fps limit at minimum tension, which would allow for a centimetre or more of further preloading of the hammer spring by screwing it in. So which is it? Are you after a maximum of 500fps as you're suggesting now, or a minimum of 500fps and adjustable upwards, as your initial statement put it.

Exactly how I stated it. I want to be close to 500fps with the spring backed all the way off. EXACTLY HOW THE FIRST VERSIONS CAME DETUNED and didn't require a pal.

Sorry, this statement is still confusing me about the nature of your question. So you don't have a PAL, but you want a hammer spring (such as the one which did at one time come with this airgun) which will enable PAL velocities? You do understand the forum rule regarding requests for anything illegal, right? A previous manufacturer's or importer's mistake does not in any way justify your going over 500fps without a PAL.

Even the manufacturer in an email has informed me that it comes turned down below 500fps to meet local laws and that it is adjustable upwards from there. The only one who says any different is the dealer. I'm not requesting anything illegal.
