This fellow has done what I was wondering about for some time.
Checks concentricity and crowns on a couple different factory .22 crosman barrels.
An interesting watch, point your eyes at it here:

People expecting a $25 barrel to have aerospace type tolerances should give their head a shake...its a $25 barrel FFS

You get what you pay for...

The point of my post was informational.
I respect what quality control is applied to a 30$ factory barrel and frankly I don't know how they do it that cheaply and make any money.
The point is, and in keeping with what I see as the value in this forum, the end user need not be satisfied with off the shelf components.
More importantly getting what you pay for includes time and effort to work on it yourself like the fellow in the video.

I have always expected faults with replacement factory barrels and this video outlines some of the problems one can expect in greater detail then I would or could determine myself. I didn't mean to poke the bear with this post so take it for what it is rather then a judgement.

It would seem that straightening the barrel was less effective at increasing accuracy, than was centering the crown and shroud end. I have had some poor accuracy barrels 2240, that improved considerably with just a recrown.

I have seen some oblong crowns on crosman barrels, but one thing that wasn't mentioned was lapping barrel.
Groups tend to shrink as my barrels get older, which leads me to think they're pretty rough inside when new.
The group moving horizontally was interesting just from the change of the shroud centering cap for the barrel.
