I am a complete dunce when it comes to exploded diagrams and doing work on air guns... :oops:

I received a replacement seal (36-128) and it is supposed to involve removing guide collar (1338-041) with a simple screwdriver and just put in the seal and put back the guide collar and tightening it.

I can not figure out where I use the simple screwdriver to remove what guide collar where...

Anyone out there have any tips for me?

Doug you mean 38-128 ?
from the link you posted for the airgunblog its the 9th picture down and the peace sits inside the 8th pic
That's the seal you need to replace and you can get to it from where you put in you co2 cart. You need a wide flat screwdriver.

Yes, it probably is 38-128.

I thought that I would need a right angle screw driver with a very wide flat blade to do it.

Seems that I might need to buy one.

Does this seal look right to you?

yes thats the seal 8) 38-128
and a straight driver will work you don't need an angled one just one with a wide tip :wink:
you will be able to get to it on an angle rather then dismantling the gun.

Edit: thats because the one in the pic is used and old its the second from the right.
the peace to the right is what you need to unscrew :wink:

to unscrew/screw in various versions of the "split slot" dealio on the right I modify old sockets with the dremmil as below. works great but you need to see if the slots in the part are flat or sometimes angled inwards or outwards I have found. Some guys have found wide enough flat screwdrivers and modified them but I can never find them wide enough so sockets work fine fro me.

Well...I found a little multi-tool that had an attachment that got the nut out. There was NO old seal to replace... :shock:

I put the new seal in behind the nut and torqued it down as far as it would go (not as far as before with that fat seal behind it now...).

Went to install a powerlet - and after a bunch of wiggling and pushing - got it in.

Then...nothing. As hard as I torqued the bottom screw in - there was no piercing of the powerlet.

Nothing.

Either the piercing pin needs replacing...or the new seal is just too thick to work (without some use; perhaps).

Maybe it will settle in overnight - will try again in the morning... :?

The new style end seal won't work with old style piercing pin. You have to change both and the seal kits now have the new style set up. I used an old half inch wood chisel to remove the collar.

OK - I guess that makes sense.

Do you think that there is anyway that this could have held Co2 and worked without that seal installed...?

I am REALLY, REALLY piss@D for at a member here who shipped it to me stating that:

Don't tighten the seal down so much that it pushes the center section of the seal up, and that will not allow the piercing pin to puncture the co2 lot of people make the mistake of over tightining the seal, thinking that it will help stop it from leaking. Back it off a little until you see the center hole section of the seal is pretty much flat, give that a try :wink:

I backed it off quite a bit - still no go.

I have reached an equitable resolution of this matter with the Seller - and will be returning it back to him.

now that i had a better look at the pic you posted above looks like the piercing pin may be worn down as well :(
