So I orders a qb79 for my neighbor it arrived today. I simply told him to clean the brl before shooting and not to use his 2pc rod....he didn't.
What he used was wood BBQ shishkabob sticks and he jammed them in good......with a hammer trying to get them unstuck.......any ideas?

Burn them out? I dunno, dang, that's dumb. Someone more gunsmithing-experienced than myself probably has a better suggestion. But something which can drive out wooden wedges without damaging the rifling and without further cramming the wood into the bore, making it tighter? That's got me stumped.

I was thinking 500 in the oven should do it with a slow cool. Shortly fallowed by a new bbl

Ouch. That's rough. The only thing I can think of is to remove the barrel, and gently tap some dowel into the other end to get the jam out? Maybe not possible at all. I kind of want to see a picture, just to cringe at it.

Good luck. That reminds me of when I tell my mother not to click on suspicious emails to avoid malware, and then goes and gets some of the worst Trojan horses and viruses I've ever seen.

bbl was off when he did it. And he jammed the skewer in so hard trying to get it pushed through nothng short of a steel rod and a hammer will free it.

I can't think of any way that doesn't involve damaging the barrel. Other than, yeah, burning it out. That won't do the barrel's metal any good, though. Let us know how it turns out! This is kind of funny, but kind of painful.

Well burning would ruin the bluing, but so long as you do it low and slow it shouldn't get too bad, like on a BBQ with a few layers of foil under it to evenly spread the heat. No hot spots that way so the marking will be minimal. You might be able to use a red-hot brass rod, like 500 times or so. Man that'd be boring. But you wouldn't risk scratching the rifling and you could just keep a torch running, heat two rods in turn, jamming one in and burning wood then swapping them so you keep things moving. Maybe sharpen the end of the rod so you can turn it and scrape out the charred bamboo as you go.

Oh, wait! That's it! Make a brass drill bit, slightly smaller than the bore! You'll probably have to sharpen it a few times, but that's easy with a file. Just carve the tip into something like a spade bit. Doesn't have to be fancy as your bore is going to keep it on track. Chuck about a 1 foot long brass rod in a drill and start spinning. You'll soon learn what shape is best for maximum wood removal and minimal damage to the cutting end. Maybe a spoon-type bit? You could carve something like that with a Dremel carving bit or two. Spoon bits remove wood quite easily and aren't shape-critical to work well. I bet you could get it cleaned out like that in half an hour or less. Just go slowly so you don't jam it and add brass to the mess stuck inside.

Soak it in a tub of water overnight to saturate the wood and swell it.... Then dry it in an oven at 250* for a few hours to shrink the wood.... Try blowing it out with compressed air (not shooting a shop compressor).... Let me know if it works, 'cause I'm flying blind here....

Would soaking the barrel in Draino for a night or so damage the barrel?

We are too late. He put it in his convection oven at 500. I told him to let it cool slowly.

lol....I don't know why people think they have to clean there barrels right away when they get there guns
a brass cleaning rod punched from revered side should un-jam it.
and why would you tell him not to use his cleaning rod
