Tinkering off and on with a recently acquired Crosman 100 (Thanks again Doug. ). Made the tool to dis assemble the rifle a little bit ago.

Entire rifle needs to be re-sealed...rather than carve up the original parts, or order NOS/reproduction parts from someone else....decided to make a new valve body and stem.

Made a couple subtle changes to the valve, but maintained stock porting which IMO is more than needed for .177...but I can hog it out later without worry (or attack of conscience) should that be deemed necessary. Still need to make a new rear half and check valve...will use an o-ring to seal to the pump tube rather than the fiber washer the factory used.



Will need to make a new piston assembly for the pump as well. Not sure if I want to rust blue the small steel parts or have a go at niter bluing...fun little project.

Yup, that's what happened to me. I've wanted a lathe pretty much my entire life (spent many hours watching my grandfather working his lathe as a kid). Seeing what people did here finally pushed me over the edge to set up a small workshop. Had to be done.

I presume the 100 and the 101 are the same wrt 177/22?
This will be a nice project to watch!!

Rather long stem indeed. Very interesting layout with these rifles.

100 is the .177 version of the 101. Made in the '40's to about 1950 or so...from what I was able to determine. Less common than the 101.

Oring piston is likely easiest and will work well. Pump head assembly has been replaced at some point with that from a 140(I think)...pump cup was hard to the point of breaking in pieces. Too short for the application IMO as well...barely two threads of adjustment before things come apart.

Will certainly update with pics as things progress.

Walter...if you happen to have a spare receiver casting, a bulk co2 tube would be an interesting project. Sort of a CG...without the hanging bottle.

Had a little time to play tonight. Finished the valve body, check valve and pump assembly. Partially assembled and tested...pumps up and near as I can tell, the valve holds perfectly. Dis-assembled, cleaned and partial re-assembly...just about ready for paint and the bulk of the machine work completed.

Little bit more done...

Painted..semi gloss black lacquer.



Rust bluing some of the steel parts...5 cycles into it...still a ways to go. Parts are ready for carding.



Need to get some different stain for the wood and some oil to finish off..dark walnut I'm thinking.

While I was stripping the wood for the 100...figured I might as well do the 1400 at the same time. Stripped and one coat of Minwax "Early American".



But that's another project.

Black Walnut maybe??? With a bit of 0000 just to knock a little deep datk grain look?

Yup...dark/black walnut. The reddish brown of the older Win '94's might look half decent too. Maybe red oak or red mahogany..

T'will suffice...red mahogany...will do a couple coats of tung oil yet... (just mocked up)



Some parts are done. Neutralized and ready for some paste wax.



Still a few bits 'n bobs to go (missed bluing some screws), but starting to come together.
