I bought a 2289 2 years ago and decided to do some maintenance, install a steel breech etc.

When I looked at the back of the valve I didn't see any bleed hole and no square valve stem. Are there any other mechanisms to detune them? I would like to build a retaining sub 500 pumper
but I'm a little confused about what I'm working with here.

Some of the older 2289s had nothing, as no restriction was required to keep them below 500.....

With a factory pump piston, you could pump a 2289 into perpetuity without risk of exceeding the speed limit.....

The 1377s usually have something to choke them. Restrictor washer under the transfer port, or small diameter port or bleed hole, or all three. . . .

Great Project! Can be tedious, but rewarding when sorted. . . . Good Luck!

I did that with a 1377, but I got a bit carried away :) It's a really fun gun now though, although I still need to make a stock for it.
