So I bought a Williams peep sight today, so excited, it's the fp-gr model, low line of sight. It doesn't fit!! the riser section of the sight runs into the stock. So it's either return it to the store... And order the fp-ag model and hopefully have it in a month... Or I could just cut the sight. Or cut the stock.... So many choices and they all suck!
What would you do?

Crow that is pretty normal actually. You look at most 75% of the old .22lr rifles that had receiver sights on them were notched from the factory. Or a gunsmith notched them. Williams sight are great for the price. I had one with the target knobs and a adjustable aperture on a Winchester 52D from the 1950's.

I couldn't cut the stock so I opted to file the sight down . It looks good. But I lost a lockdown screw in the process! Just can't win...

As Rick noted, most stocks have to be modified when attaching receiver sights. Only the lever actions rifles seem immune to this as there is no wood for the slide to impinge.
