Hello all!

Besides the usual JM/VMach kits and components, curious if any springer shooters are using O-Ring setups or anything else off the beaten path.
Myself, I'm a bit leary on the o-ring set up, but truth be told, I've never shot one before...

Have a look at a couple of the UK forums, airgun BBS and the AGF. Lots of very clever people doing all sorts of mods to springers. O ring pistons, short stroking, TP mods besides the usual guides and tophats. Now there are a few experiments with sleeving down the comp tube and piston to 23mm or even 22 mm which seems to be very promising. I'm off to the Air Arms get together this weekend so I'm hoping to have a few shots with some highly modified rifles and see what all the fuss is about!

O ring setups are old school. Not saying they werent reliable, actual worked very well. BSA believe were the first back in the 70's. The Meteor, Scorpion, Bucanneer all had oring sets. Same power plant upon all 3 models. Few others too were incotporated with orings.

I'd expect wear on the rings to be a significant concern, unless one were to lubricate the cylinder heavily with a non-detonating grease of some sort. Urethane or leather seals are relatively durable compared to the average O-ring. A Viton ring might be tough enough ... but still it seems likely the rings would need changing quite often. Strictly guessing mind, as I've no experience with this sort of mod.
