I just thought of an interesting idea and was wondering if anyone has some expert opinion as to its validity. instead of a spring operated hammer in a pcp gun. an air operated hammer. using the same air from the reservoire to drive the hammer. as the pressure in the reservoire is increased, so does the hammer pressure. as pressure in the reservoire drops, so does the hammer pressure. therefore a more self regulating hammer. the small hammer piston would have to bleed off after every shot,to recock the gun, which will waste some air, but the size and design of the piston would limit that waste to just a small ammount.

I saw a PCP gun with a similar mechanism you're describing, but I don't know if they're available in America:

The Huben is hammerless, so not the same idea. A hammer with a dual operating valve diverter setup. air to fire the hammer and somehow redirect the air to reset the hammer valve. I have read about such a valve, but the proper type or name escapes me right now.

Joe that setup exists in older paintball markers....so I'm sure it can be done to air guns as well....
