Post subject:  Nitro Piston 2 (NP2) mount recommendations

Hi there,

First post here, and new to the air gun world. I have a new Benjamin Nitro Piston 2 break barrel and I've ordered a new scope for it (Centre Point 4116x40). The new scope arrived with the correct mount (picatinny? I believe that's what it's called - yeah, I'm new :? ) however the scopes sight (the end of the scope) rests against the top of the barrel when installed. I need to get a slightly higher mount to allow for the scope/barrel clearance.

I'm not sure what I need? Could someone provide me with a link or details of what I need. The mount the scope came with is "low", and I need to get a "medium" mount. But what kind of mount? I'm confused regarding picatinny and weaver, widths, etc.

Thanks for your help - you're truly "the new guy"

I'm new to forum well. Joined a couple months ago but you should be able to get medium or high s open rings depending on rings on new scope now.

Medium or high scope rings is what I ment to say. Should be available at any place that sells guns in your area.

Thanks very much, do you know what "type" of mount I'm looking for? Are they all the same? Meaning will they all fit the rail in my gun and around the diameter of my scope?

Is it a 1 inch scope or 30mm? Should say on the box it came. YouTube or Google will also help.

When you have questions you are not sure about.

The Benjamen Trail NP2 has a weaver rail. Most scopes are either 1 inch tube diameter or 30mm tube diameter but there are smaller. I recommend getting a one piece mount with four screws on each ring. Maybe something like this....

X2.

But if you absolutely wish to order from Crosman, there are 2-pieces, 4-bolts medium-height rings they use to mount their CP 40 mm, 1'' tube scopes on Trail NP among others. Though on the pics they're installed on my TR77, they came off of a Trail NP I bought for parts. I think there was about 1/4'' clearance between the scope and receiver. Part # CPB392W-999. You can get them through the Gravel agency: http://store.onlinecamp.com/en/parts/crosman.html

Good luck!

Most all airguns use a Dovetail rail like a classic 22LR, or they use Picatinny. The NP2 uses Picatinny. Hatsan is an example of a gun co that does not, most of their models use some awful Frankenstein thing.
A Weaver mount will fit a Picatinny rail but it's not ideal. I don't believe there is a such thing as a one-piece Weaver mount so I can pretty much guarantee that Weaver mount in Skanzy's link is really a Picatinny.
A CP 4-16x40AO has a 1" tube. Medium height should be more than enough. I would've thought a low mount would've worked but height is subjective so they can vary from model to model, plus your rail can vary too. So just any 1" medium Picatinny you like should work.
