Hi Everybody - Just want to know if anybody ever modified a air rifle which have no grooves or rails mounts to fit a telescope on - If you did how did you do it, any sugetions is welcome
Thanks

Hello hrogers. As far as I know, the tube of an air rifle is too thin to thread a scope mount to it, and expect it to stay on. Especially since it,s most likely an older Springer. Springers, even low power ones, have considerable kick foreword,s and backward,s, so even the best epoxy, might be a fruitless endeavour. There are barrel mounts available, but most are too far forward for normal scopes, however a pistol scope with the longest eye relief available, might give acceptable results. If the gun in question is not a collector item or if you don't care, then having a mount spot welded on is your best bet. Of course I'm speaking of my own experience, Perhapse there's someone else with a better alternative. good luck.

This is a matter of the amount of steel thickness of the cylinder. Some can be tapped for a rail. If you can find a steel rail, there is silver solder as an option. More a matter is the cost inccured worth the gun your wanting done?

What kind of gun? Many Picatinny rails are made for firearms that don't come with a rail, like a Marlin lever, misc shotguns, or an H&R single shot rifle. Just google Picatinny rail, then click images to get ideas. A springer receiver is round so I'd check out H&R rails which are shaped to match the round chamber of an H&R. I doubt it will be a perfect match but it should work, and if you like you can sand the rail to a better fit.
A springer typically has a receiver of ~2mm thick which is enough for screws imo, but I'd add more screws since a springer is hard on them. I suppose one screw in each groove would work, or maybe two in every other groove. A springer typically can't have the the screws protruding thru the receiver so once set and tightened you can simply grind off the excess. You can also drill countersunk holds on the inside, then thread up into the mount which is no doubt stronger but more work. Either way 3mm screws would be easier but 4mm would be much stronger. Or similar US threads like
If not a springer then maybe check out the Marlin rails, many of which are flat on the bottom, and if not a springer them no need for additional screws. Tell us what gun and post a px of the area you want it please...
I suppose JB Weld could be an option too, which is super strong and I'd assume it would hold on most springers but no personal experience with that. Also, springers vary drastically on how abusive they are to mounts so it depends on which one you have. Lastly; screws and JB Weld would likely hold anything.
Telecopes are not ideal, should probably use a rifle scope ;)

Hi, hrogers! I recommend digital rifle scope ATN X-SIGHT II HD 3-14X (http://www.atncorp.com/smart-hd-weapon-sight). This device is easily assembled and has good characteristics. I use this scope for 2 months and am very pleased. Good luck.

The air rifle is the Gecado mod 22.
This is my general idea not sure if it's going to work when I'm done I will submit it to the forum
I'm going to use fiberglass and a aluminium strip. The aluminium strip is cut so it can fit inside the telescope mounting Cover it with fiberglass and then using a file to form the slot.
Here is a photo of my idea

Looks good, but likely will strip out where the ring,s attach. It might hold up with a one piece mount though.

My method for trying to use fiberglass (actually it more like a fiber filler) did not work at all
to make a rail for a scope.
It was to soft and tear off from the rifle.
So I decide to try plan B - I used a piece of metal which was lying around. The length and thickness of the metal strip was 100% I was looking for.
I make a sharp edge on the sides where the scope mounting can fit into. Drill 2 holes on the metal strip and use a arc welder to weld it on the air rifle (Gecado mod 22)
It work perfectly - Here is some of the photos - The scope is now mounted but did not shoot the rifle yet, as soon as I have some time I will do some practice shooting with it.
I still have to clean the rifle from the fiber filler that is stuck onto the rifle and to do some cleaning

I was going suggest panel boding a rail to it.
