This gun is rated at 510 fps which is suspicious to start with since the nearly identical 853 is rated 495 fps. I recently tested it and found it was shooting in the low 400s with 7 gr pellets. I took apart every piece that could be taken apart, cleaned everything and changed the o-ring that seals the chamber at the valve end. Very lightly oiled every thing and reassembled. No improvement. Any ideas? --Ed |

My Daisy 853c does 420 fps with regular Crosman Wadcutter . My Daisy 953 does 430 fps with regular Crosman Wadcutter . |

Pretty sure that low 400s is in the ballpark. If it shoots accurately then I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's intended to be used for paper-punching at 10m indoors. |

Thanks guys, It probably shoots nearer to 500fps with the lighter alloy pellets. They should state the weight of the pellet when they claim velocity. --Ed. |
