I have been looking for a more permeant solution for hammer bounce. HHD's are more of a temporary thing that will need replacement after a short time due to wear. I also heard of SSG's but don't know how to make one for my qb78, also heard of something called a SAIL haven't got a clue what that is. I plan on keeping my rifle cock on close like it that way, don't have a lath (had one but sold it) so thought a stopped spring guide would be the way to go. Any help on this would be great. Jack

If you search here for SSG you can read that thread on it. I can't remember if anybody tried one for a QB.
I found this on another site...

Through a number of small modifications I eventually settled on a 38 gram hammer and an internal SSG for my QB78D in .22", resulting in just shy of 20fpe with 18.13gr JSB, and about 18fpe with 13.43gr JSB pellets - 690fps and 775fps respectively. Here's what the hammer looks like:

The SSG itself has changed slightly a few times in the particular spacers used as I've adjusted air output. This is about what it looks like now, using a 1mm x 8mm spring preloaded to about 1/2 its uncompressed length. Finding just the right length on the guide and getting the spring to match it takes a lot of disassembly/reassembly cycles and chrony work, but I've nailed it. There's also an O-ring in front of the hammer stop plug to shorten the valve opening cycle.
