HI:There were squirrels eating my window edges out so I grabbed an airgun to fix the problem. It turned out to be an old 137(Second variant) that I bought a long time ago at Jerry’s Budget Centre in Downsview (like in the 60's). Anyway the seals were shot and I had to re-build it and while doing so got rid of the paint job I gave it(way back before I knew better) and cold re-blued it.
It shoots fine now(to get that exhaust quad seal out,use a pin) and I see on the loading sleeve a serial number(didn't see it before because it was paint covered).
The number is:388476
Can anybody translate that into a date?
I rechecked that number with a magnifier glass to make sure I didn't miss any prefix or postfix numbers/letters.
Thanks
Bernie

According to this page: http://www.crosman.com/discover/crosman ... duct-dates , the second variant of the 137 was made from 1956 to 1966. However, and unfortunately, Crosman does not provide a way to decipher the serial number to know the exact year of production.

Found this however: http://www.airgunsforum.com/showthread.php?p=354 . It MAY be a 1958 if the stamping is somewhat bad or unclear, but hard to say for sure. HTH.

Edit: Also found this: http://airgunrepairman.com/dom.asp . A bit more complete, but it's in conflict with the infos on the Crosman page. It says the 137 have been made up to the mid 80's :?: :?: :?:

HI:Thanks
" the second variant of the 137 was made from 1956 to 1966" fits the era because I bought it before I could drive. I was 12-15 years old which makes it 1963 to 66.
Another fact ,it was made in Dunnville Ont.

Time flies when your having fun!!!
