I have a Benjamin classic .22 infront of me that my friend had purchased online without realizing the person had poorly attempted to convert it from spring to Nitro Piston. The hole at the back which the stock link pin appears to have been carved or filed out by hand, and the stock link pin forced into it, ruining it's threads, and slightly bending it in the process. Having trouble find replacements in stock. Anyone know if such a pin can be ordered from a non airgun source, or if a vice, and a tap is my only option. Cocking the rifle makes the end up the barrel.pop out of the stock about a cm.

Do you mean this part (in the picture)? If so, this is no regular hardware store item, it's made specifically for the application. It has metric threads, M8-1.25 male threads and M6-1.00 female threads. It's the same part as on the Phantom, Optimus, Trail NP and other B18/19 series Crosman break barrel rifles. Just download an EVP pdf free from Crosman: https://support.crosman.com/hc/en-us/ar ... -EVP-2011- , or better yet, here's the part#: B18-00-9 (stock link bolt). Search for Gravel Agency, or maybe Scopes and Ammo, to buy the part. HTH

Tiz the exact item I'm after. Already got the part number, and tried scopes and ammo, and most Google searches are coming up dry. This was my hail Mary. I'll see if I can't save it by investing in a tap and die. First air-gun repair, but I was a weapons tech in the CF. Miss all my tools :/

I bet it was one of those Russian NP kits. I had one, Cocking effect was twice the spring and wouldn't always lock the piston back as it was too powerful for the sear. Guy blamed it on me, not the kit.

The NP kit appears to be the one from scopes and ammo, for the phantom/quest. A Dremel is required to elongate the hole for the stock link pin, as it does not line up 100% it appears the person opted to use a flat head screwdriver and twisted in an attempt to remove metal, and then attempted to force the link pin before the holes were fully lined up. I expect crystal meth may have been a factor..

The piston requires 200lbs to compress. I'm not sure it can be done without one. (I use an iirwin quick grip). Most 495 springs don't need them, there's only like 2 inches of travel, and for the piston it's not really required to open it, just to fit it back in. So in this case, a $30 grip does the trick :)

Now that you mention it, I have to break the barrel the entire length of its motion to prime the piston. Is that an indicator of its Russian roots, or normal for a quest 1000 piston? And I don't seem to mind Russian gun parts. A little crude, and often require some deburring, but they are usually built to last

Did Eric tell you he cant get you one ?. I would wait and get the proper part rather then trying to make something work.
All of the Gamo clone B18's use this part so you should be able to get one.
