I recently traded into a diana model 24 that seems to have been detuned for sub 500 fps in Canada it currently gets around 475-480 fps with JSB exact pellets and for some strange reason it gets lower velocity with lighter pellets like h&n finale match pistol or crosman hollow points and destroyers which are both lighter than the jsb pellets. In any case I would like to get the gun back up to it's full factory spec around 575 fps ( if I can get a bit more without adversely affecting the shootability it wouldn't hurt my feelings but I would like to be able to shoot the gun as it was designed) my question is what would be involved in restoring this air rifle to full power ? The spring in it now has 28 coils and very light preload so I'm thinking a spring swap might do it. If so where might I find a proper spring? And would shimming the spring be an acceptable fix? Also for those who will bring it up, yes I have my RPAL so there are no legal issues with me bringing this gun above 500 fps

Thanks for the link, is the spring the only difference between sub pal and pal rated Diana's?

I have ordered the full power spring . Hopefully the gun will still be as smooth to shoot with the new spring. Given that it is the factory spring and not an aftermarket spring designed to push the envelope I'm thinking it should still be a nice shooter with just a bit more velocity than the detuned spring

Is a Vortex PG2 kit available for that rifle? If so then you have smooth!

I don't think vortek makes a tune kit for the 24 in fact I've been having problems finding any info at all about it. I guess it was never really sold in the US and is generally considered a youth rifle so not worthy of much attention elsewhere.

Wish I'd found this link a long time ago. Wouldn't have pursued the quest for a more powerful gun. Around 550-600fps is all I wanted. All mine are 1000+, using heavy pellets to slow them down (accuracy). D24 C is still the most fun and accurate, scope, open, peep, laser. Lightweight, easy to carry, 6yr and 10yr old love to shoot it also. Will buy full power spring soon. Know this gun won't change much if it all.

Kids like 2240 best, but hard to keep them on track and safe. D24, harder to shoot yourself or others.
