First off my Gamo Varmint is a pleasure to shoot.
It comes to the shoulder well and feels made for my hands.
That having been said I have read an air rifle can break
a scope meant for some firearms.

Any mods out there that don't worsen performance but stop scopes from breaking?

I just bought one from Aliexpress which may arrive in another week... Not sure if it works as great as the one from Diana, let's see... Image

Bit of a price difference, there.
Might help, indeed. However, any time there are moving parts, there are contact part tolerances.
At typical air gun range of less than 100yards, perhaps the fact there are moving parts will not
effect accuracy enough to matter.
It is likely less expensive overall just to purchase a springer-classed scope, than the Diana model.

Yeah, this is true! I didn't remember that when I placed my order. For serious shooting, we should stay away from these fancy things....

Not bad, I ordered a set of normal rings at the same time.... 8-)

Who knows if that Diana mount is German, or just a re branded Chinese one? Diana been doing that lately just slapping their name on Chinese made products.

That's what I was thinking too... If it's the same thing I ordered from Aliexpress...

When I receive it, I will take more zoom-in pictures to show the details hopes we can had some idea then...

Interesting gear and points of view.
Yes I agree in general buying add ons can be problematic.
But individual issues may be best solved by one.
Apparently some firearm scopes don't focus in close enough as well.
But its nice to know what the options are.

Some of the earlier varmint scopes had springs around the scope tube to cushion these higher powered scopes from recoil damage.
However, these are not cheap, and the tolerances were adjustable as well. I still have one such scope.
The accuracy of these scopes was never in doubt.
Here are 2 groups shot at 100 meters, with that spring mounted 6-18X varmint scope.

Wow! 100 meters.... Raally nice shot~ nice gun and nice shooter too!

How about the modern magnum springer scopes ? They are just use stronger materials to survive from the recoils?

You've likely heard that springers have 2 recoil pulses. That means the scope tries to recoil/slide forwards (as the spring slams forward), but also backwards as the piston stops.

Scopes designed for springers are designed to prevent damage from those double-whammy recoil impulses - forwards and backwards, whereas PB rifle scopes are designed for resist damage from only the first scope impulse, to move forwards.

IN springers, the stopping of the piston is the stronger impulse, as well. The scope in a PB gun will try to move forwards in the rings as the rifle recoils back. The springer's scope will try to move backwards as the pistol slams to a halt and the gun recoils forwards. What we usually feel is simple vibration pulse.

PCP rifles produce the same style of recoil that is produced by powder burners.

The recoil of some of the springers is strong enough, to destroy even scopes designed for them, even the more expensive of them, let alone the less expensive versions.

Uhhh...... So open sights only? But those high power is basically in order to shoot farther... But without a proper scope, the shooter can't see farther....

that's right Daryl some who haven't seen it before don't really realize how much violence comes from
recoil, check this cool video out, its talking about the Diana bullseye Zero R mount, if you don't want to watch
the whole vid skip to 1:10 look carefully at the body of the rifle to the stock, and the back cap and safety, also
even thought the mount helps in the recoil it still bounces of the front mount
