i did my first tear down and assembly. a while ago my p17 started leaking air. i was just going to buy a new one. but i saw some o-rings cheap on e-bay. so i bought them. so today i thought i would give it a try.. i watched a good instructional video on you tube. about how to change all 4 o-rings. i did it and it seems to work fine . ONLY ONE THING THOUGH-- the only stuff i had to dab on each o-ring was pell gun oil. should be ok. yes.

should be ok for now but you should see if you can get yourself
some Pure DOW 33 or 55 only deference between the 33 and 55
is the 55 will help swell/expand the o-ring and in return will help for a better seal...

You should be fine Pete. I have been shooting a HW40 since 1999 and a couple of P17 pistols since 2010. I only use 30W-ND motor oil or PellgunOil. Never any problems. Seals need changing when they wear thin or compress or get nicks/gouges. The two upper end seals take about 5 minutes to change (piston seal & breech seal). The two lower end seals take some time because of disassembly but they rarely need changing.

You can get the seals from your local hydraulics shops for cheap. The 70 durometer nitrile works fine and will only cost a few dollars for the set.

Nitrile o-rings
006 - valve stem seal
008 - valve body seal
009 - breech seal
116 - piston seal
