I purchased a Diana Outlaw from another CAF member last week. The intention was to use it for HFT. So my performance target was set for 80+ shots per 200 bar fill, 18 fpe.
Lucky for me, fellow CAF member Go4Robby posted his recent tune of the Outlaw. So I was able to tune my gun very quickly having set the right performance targets to shoot for.
The rifle arrived shooting over 20 fpe as the previous owner was a hunter. I immediatly took it apart and did the following:
1. Readjusted the regulator with a reg pressure gauge mounted. It was set at 110 bar.
2.Adjusted the hammer spring tension so the max speed can be achieved. It was 968 fps with 8.64gr H&N FTT
3.Loosen the hammer spring so that it shoots at 95% of max speed, now detuned to 930 fps.
4.Replace trigger blade return spring with a lighter spring and readjusted the trigger for a light and precise release.
5.Tried different pellets, especially heavy JSB's. (Hades, Beast)
Until I can try other pellets, I think I have it set as close to perfect as possible for now.
It is now shooting 16.2gr JSB Beast at average of 688 fps for 17 fpe. POI stayed consistent from 200 bar down to 95 bar. With pellet speeds between high at 695 fps and last shot at 675 fps.
Here is a compltet shot string below, from top left to bottom right, 5 shots per target. Total of 110 shots. 17 yards benched, shot with single shot tray.
Big thanks to Glenn B, Wes B, Tony L who gave me useful information on this gun. This gun performed much better than my expectations.ImageImage

Nice ! Since getting mine, my other rifles have been collecting dust  How’s that standard deviation with the stock regulator? Also I’ve noticed that since tuning her down, she’s a lot less pellet picky, still prefers heavier pellets but groups well with lighter ones as well

Majority of the shots were 688 fps, I had a few shooting 695, a few shooting 680. Off reg it became 675. I'd say the reg is working OK for me. POI did not change much.

Thanks again for your post. It got me started in the right direction.

Amazing shot count, now. The accuracy is pretty good, too.

I am glad that we will be in different divisions on Saturday!

Looking forward to seeing you knocking down a lot of targets.

Thanks guys, I think this one will be a keeper. Balance is good too for offhand shooting. I might just hit a few targets in kneeling and standing lanes this time.[emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Just received JSB Monster pellets 13.43gr. Had to try it on my Outlaw. Here are the results. The only change I made was I recrowned the barrel.
I am very pleased with how it turned out.
Spread of 17 fps, standard deviation is only 3 fps. Out of 100 shots taken, only 2 flyers.ImageImage

Thanks guys, I am very happy. However, I need to try the combo in the wind. Hopefully, it does better than the JSB Beast at 688 fps previously.

Just found the best pellet for the Outlaw, my friend YepYep gave me some H&N Baracuda FT that he does not use. When I shot it in my Outlaw, Bingo!

The gun does 893 fps at 16.9 fpe. 55 Yard hold-over is around 1.5 mil dot. So far, it seems to be very wind resistant and consistent. Shot count remain the same as other pellets at around 100 shots per 200 bar fill. I used it at the last HAHA FT match, it can certainly run with the big boys, I am very happy with the set-up.

Nice to find the new light weight Baracuda pellet works so well on your Outlaw!!

I found it by chance and bought some to try. It works better than the old heavy weight Baracuda but still not the best feed for my rifles in the house tho~ :)
