Bought this gun in 177 was told it was full power 1100 fps. Turns out the gun has the F marking in the pentagon on the barrel so only 500 fps. Anyone know if I put a spring from a full powered version if this would increase the power in my gun. Are the internals the same or just the spring that changes?

Yes, you do need a PAL to modify it to shoot over 500 fps. But even more worrisome is that the rifle you mention is a PCP power plant, although it does have springs: a hammer spring and a valve spring. Often PCPs are detuned by restricting the airflow via valve spring, valve size, valve open time, transfer port , hammer spring size, size, etc ,etc. so you'll have to do some more research.

Hi Duke.

There are two versions of the Diana Mauser K98. The most recent is the pcp rifle but the one prior to that was an underlever springer. I have the .22 which is in the mid 800 fps and the .177 might have been in the 1100 fps as stated in the original post.

I didn't know that a non-pal version was available because what I have seen until now in most of the online store is a requirement for the permit.

Since it is a springer, I guess only the right spring kit is necessary (as well as a PAL).

Where are you located?

There may be someone nearby who has a similar model and can help to identify the difference.

I have a Stormrider2, for example. Are Stormrider guts the same as those of the Mauser 98?

If so, and you're nearby, we could pull parts and compare.
