| Post subject: | Diana Mauser K98 |
Bought this gun in 177 was told it was full power 1100 fps. Turns out the gun has the F marking in the pentagon on the barrel so only 500 fps. Anyone know if I put a spring from a full powered version if this would increase the power in my gun. Are the internals the same or just the spring that changes? |

well maybe so You want to make a non pal gun into a pal rated gun .a few problems Do you have a Pal to own a pal rated gun every one is going to say yes so how do we know ? |

Yes, you do need a PAL to modify it to shoot over 500 fps. But even more worrisome is that the rifle you mention is a PCP power plant, although it does have springs: a hammer spring and a valve spring. Often PCPs are detuned by restricting the airflow via valve spring, valve size, valve open time, transfer port , hammer spring size, size, etc ,etc. so you'll have to do some more research. |

Hi Duke. There are two versions of the Diana Mauser K98. The most recent is the pcp rifle but the one prior to that was an underlever springer. I have the .22 which is in the mid 800 fps and the .177 might have been in the 1100 fps as stated in the original post. I didn't know that a non-pal version was available because what I have seen until now in most of the online store is a requirement for the permit. Since it is a springer, I guess only the right spring kit is necessary (as well as a PAL). R-Gun Pete |

There may be someone nearby who has a similar model and can help to identify the difference. I have a Stormrider2, for example. Are Stormrider guts the same as those of the Mauser 98? If so, and you're nearby, we could pull parts and compare. |
