WTB shorter lengths of 1144 stress proof round bar

Post subject:  WTB shorter lengths of 1144 stress proof round bar
Looking for 1" and 3/4" diameters. Would like 1 to 3 feet of each, but anything over 6" is usable.

Hey Al have you checked metal supermaket...
theirs several locations, great place for your metal needs and prices well too... :wink:

First place I checked. The fellow I talked to told me that although they show it on the website....they don't STOCK it. Was quite willing to bring me in a 12' length....when I was looking for 1'. :roll:

This might have changed...it's been over a year since I checked.

Spent about around four hours finding Canadian sources and emailing for quotes last night. Received a few answers this morning.

Bottom line...MOST of the companies that LIST 1144 don't even stock the stuff. :roll:

I did however, get ONE reply with an actual quote...and they (or so it appears at this point) STOCK the material (1144 stressproof) and have no issues doing small orders. :D

Will wait and see, but it's beginning to look like a long anticipated project MIGHT just get off the ground. 8)

Will update this when the order has shipped and I know more.
