Post subject:  PP800 Accuracy Report ......... Really? Really!

Hello everyone,

Well I told myself I had no interest in handguns and would probably never own one ......... never say never! Couldn't resist purchasing this cute little Rebel PP800 PCP Target Pistol from Raman @CSS in .22, and couldn't be happier -these are allot of fun! A left hand bolt action pistol (that could be converted into a rifle) with a 7 shot magazine -very cool! I've replaced the bulky OEM wood grip with a Diana Carbon style, which I think looks allot nicer and is far more ergonomic on this gun. The 7 shot magazine is simply a joy to load and use and works flawlessly. Replacements @ $20 each are about as cheap as they come.

Out of curiosity, I thought I'd set it up for Benchrest FT and do accuracy testing at 35 yards. Yeah, it looks kind of silly with such a large scope (Bushnell Ultra HD 3-9x40) mounted on it, but this is just temporary for testing purposes. For those who wish to use a scope on this gun, standard low mounts will just clear the included rotary magazine nicely. Shot several 7 round groups at full charge, Chrony'd at around 430 fps using JSB Exact pellets. One could clearly see the pellet arc over that distance, but with a few scope adjustments the results were pretty consisted and quite amazing really, for such an inexpensive airgun, and a pistol to boot! Photos speak for themselves.

The main bits of this air pistol are almost identical to the Diana Chaser and Artemis CP1-M, the latter having a simpler single stage trigger, and no safety. I believe all of these airguns are built in the same Chinese factory, Snowspeak. Out of the box the trigger settings leave a bit to be desired, but there is room for adjustment and refinement.

I also picked up a couple of these cool green laser sights (as pictured mounted atop my Diana Chaser with a standard 1" low profile dovetail ring) on Amazon for peanuts. The green laser is far more visible than red in daylight outdoors, and on a cloudy day it's ridiculously bright! This particular unit comes with a rechargeable battery and charger. The windage and elevation turrets are quite nice given it's a 20 dollar item, but the actual adjustment mechanism is poorly designed and pretty much useless. Adjustment of one or the other turret changes both elevation and windage. I modified mine with some springs internally and now it's quite functional and accurate -will post another review on that for those who might be interested. The range of a green laser sight is hundreds of meters in bright daylight, and for an old fart like myself who now needs bifocals to see much of anything, it's the best option for hand held target shooting.

Cheers!

Amazing shooting! How much did the pellets dropped at 35 yards if the initial speed is only 430 ft/s? Can't wait for my PP800 with chaser stock to arrive next week.

Very good! Wow that's great accuracy from such low velocity! Must have been a nice calm day =)
Congrats on the great shooting!
Cheers,
Wes

The drop was around two inches I’d say, give or take. I had to wait for perfectly calm weather, as wind drift has me all over the place day before.
