Purchased a "refurbished" 1911 John Wayne pistol from Pyramyd Air because the price was right.
These are supposedly refurbished, inspected, and tested, presumably by Pyramyd themselves. I have to assume they are returns that have been used.
The one that I received appears to have been inspected and refurbished by a K9 of some type. The grips have what appear to be chew marks on them. I would expect refurbs to have cosmetic imperfections, but I would expect grips to be swapped out if they have marks in them.
The entire action was covered in what appears to be dog hair, or at least I hope it's dog hair. The box also contained hair.
Other than that, it's your standard KWC 1911 that we all know.
I posted a similar review on their web site which they chose not to publish.

While it sucks. You buy a gun with a weathered finish, and complain about it not having pristine grips?

Something strange with that. That's not a few hairs, it has a full on beard, and it looks like it's been in a tool box for a year. I can't imagine a big operation like Pyramid would be peddling beat up merchandise under any umbrella, not even refurbished.
Perhaps yours was a return - but got accidentally mixed in and shipped with the refurbished ones. Did you advise Pyramid directly or just try to submit a review on their site?

The grips don't come like that. I don't care much about the grips as I will swap them with wood anyway. My problem is they claim these have been inspected and tested and clearly this is not true. I have never received a used gun that was this dirty other than guns sold as parts guns.

I can exchange it, but it's not worth the hassle and wait time to send it back. They process orders same or next day, but returns take 2 weeks.
