So not a proper review at this time but my SPA WF600 showed up today and for $118 all in I'm very happy so far. First few shots indoors look very promising for both accuracy and power. Also the over all finish is the best I've personally seen on a Chinese air rifle (not that I've had much exposure to them).

The manual says the rifle is a Wildfire 600 Model WF600-P WF600 though it looks like a B3-4 from what I've seen on the internet. An interesting note on the manual is that there is a sticker saying 495fps on of the original print that says 470-570fps. I'm looking forward to shooting it over the chrony before taking it apart to see what is inside.

They probably have wimpy springs installed for the Canadian market. You have your PAL so that's easy to fix. I'm looking forward to your chrony results. Ricksplace has his .22al version shooting at high 490s with a B18 spring installed.

This is a .22 as well, I've given up trying to use my Chrony F1 with airguns in the house. Tomorrow a cheap amazon airgun chronograph should arrive and I'll use that assuming it works it was about $75 so I don't have huge expectations of it. I'd love to stuff a more powerful spring in it even it it is close to 500fps. The faster the better within reason.

What issue are you having with the F1? Not enough light?

It is likely a light issue, also the original diffusers have fallen to bits over the years, I think I bought it in the mid 90's. I usually works out doors at the gun range but very seldom does it work indoor regardless of how I try to arrange the lights. On the weekend I managed to get about one in 20 shots to register when testing my 1322. The little airgun unit I've ordered has built in internal lights and the reviews I've seen say it captures almost every shot indoors or out. I'm not going to try and shoot my 338win through it ;)

I'm still using an old green original Chrony (probably from the 80s). This is the old model with the cardboard frame that can be put on top.
Anyway, I don't put anything on top. No lights. No cardboard. I put the unit on a camera tripod and elevate to about 4' and station is under a pair of regular 60W lights bulbs in a ceiling fixture. Never any problems unless the battery is low.

Actually, I installed an OEM spring from a B3 rebuild kit in my .22 WF600. It's about the same diameter/coil# as a B18 full power spring, but is .118" wire instead of .122" wire. A B18 spring will fit, but the higher power spring causes a very harsh firing cycle (in my gun, yours may be different) with little increase in velocity. 498fps vs 510fps. Totally not worth it.
I did not even try the wimpy looking spring that came with the gun.
I'm very happy with the WF600. I have two other B3s in .177. My B3-1 with a factory full power spring shoots 8.2gr pellets at 650fps, 7.0gr pellets at 680. My other B3-3 in .177 is detuned with a weaker spring to 510fps/8.2gr. All three are tack drivers.
I made metal spring guides and extensively tuned each of my B3s. They respond really well to tuning. B3s are often called a "preassembled unfinished airgun kit".

Here is the thread I posted when I bought my WF600: topic88333.html

I've heard back from a UK spring supplier and they suggested a Titan #11 spring, I'll wait till I can measure this one before knowing if that is correct or not.

In the mean time the Chrony felt like cooperating today, average velocity for the WF600 was 460fps and quite consistent with the majority of the shots being within 4 or 5 fps of that. I'll do it properly later and write them all down and get the exact numbers.

Last night I ordered a .177cal WF-600 from CSS. I'm looking forward to seeing if I can get it to shoot. It will be a project rifle. I shot Rick's WF-600 and his two other B3 rifles but have never owned an underlever myself.

Thanks Headdamage for starting this thread and congratulations on the new WF .22.! Also happy to hear that Mr. Cooper is getting the .177.

My WF is fun and wants to shoot straight. I haven’t shot it for a while, it’s waiting for a scope. I may be able to get a new scope soon, it’ll be good to shoot it again. I tried Crosman springs in it but that didn’t work for me. The stock spring on mine is very good, really good chrony numbers so I’m sticking with it. The one thing I need help with is the trigger. I found mine to be clunky and abrupt. I compressed the spring a little and it became a clunky hair trigger, not great. But that hair trigger is what got me started shooting a bit more accurate. I may not be shooting my WF for a while but I’d be interested to hear how your triggers are. Thanks fellas!

Hi Head damage.

I am happy to make a metal guide, thrust washer and top hat for you.
See my response on Todd's thread here: post574079.html#p574079

Cheers!

Rick.

Decided to go with a peep rather than a scope for sights. Sight seems overly costly for what it is, as much or slightly more than the rifle cost. I bought if for something else but got the idea to do this with it instead. Had to trim a little wood off of the stock to fit it, I'll finish that bit off better later. Also removed the stock rear sight to allow a better sight picture. Would be nice if the front sight wasn't as fat, might do something about that later. Shooting it I'm getting as good a groups as when I had a 4x scope on it. Wouldn't be great for hunting but for killing paper I like peep sights.

Nice aperture sight and nice job shaping the stock to accept the sight. I had the same Williams on a HW35 about 20 years ago but my eyes need a scope these days.

The WF600 is now set up with Rick's top hat, spring guide, and slip washer. Combined with a Titan XS #11 spring it is cocking and shooting very smoothly, bit of spring twang.

The following is a good example of how pellet weight could change the legal status of an air gun.

Crosman 14.3gr premier hollow points:
454.8
455.6
452.8
462.3
454.1
457.0
456.5
452.8
453.2
453.6
AVG = 455.3 fps 7 ft-lbs NON PAL

Crosman 9.5gr SSP alloy pellets:
616.5
586.6
619.5
594.5
612.5
605.7
584.7
596.9
598.1
601.9
AVG = 601.7 fps 8 ft-lbs PAL REQUIRED? There really should be a standard weight of pellet for testing or just make it energy based like in the UK.

Elevation ~3700ft
