A couple of weeks ago V76 sent me some reading material on shot grip analysis and various tips from accomplished coaches. It has helped me immensely, but what has delighted me more is this...

The day after I received it I passed on copies to a colleague at work who has a son in the Cadets. His son devoured it avidly and put in some range time. Less than two weeks later he went from grade 1 to grade 4, got his crossed rifles proficiency badge and got promoted from his squad's B team to their A team and all concerned are delighted.... :D :D :D :D

These tips and instructions are pdf documents. is there any way to post them in this sub forum and sticky them?

I would love to see these posted.

Any chance you can email these to me? I love to read anything that can improve my accuracy.

Wow that's really cool! I'm glad it helped! I'm also seeing people getting higher scores in the postal matches which is really encouraging. Seems like the objective has been reached! About the PDFs, I uploaded some of them plus some more that I collected off of various website for offline viewing - so it's up to the mods to sticky the URL of the files.

The URL is: http://tinyurl.com/AirPistolTraining

Enjoy!

WOW...That's a bundle of knowledge and information. I guess I have alot of reading to do.

Thanks for taking the time to do that.

v76 got into a fight with someone else on the board and left in a snit. On the way out, he did his best to unpost anything helpful he had ever provided to the members in general. In this case, he had posted a link to a web file he had created, and he blocked access to it. However, the 'pilkguns' website for which Mac posted a link after v76 blocked his stuff contains a lot of useful tips and is worth looking at instead.

I have come across a few other sites with some reasonable to quite excellent advice on shooting technique and rules. I'll let you be the judge on their value. One is for PB pistol hold and analysis, but I included it as there is an excellent guide as to where a problem grip tends to "throw" the shot relative to the target.

And a wonderful library of air gun PDFs here: http://www.airrifle.co.za/library/

The "Documents Library" section of http://www.targetshooting.ca/ is also worth checking.

Thought I'd posted this link to a ZIP archive here, but guess it was in a different thread. This is a collection of various articles I read while learning to compete in air pistol, much of the content from V76, some from other sources.
http://www.luthier.ca/other/forum/AP_tr ... adings.zip
A lot of very useful material among these files.

Wow! Nice Gerard! Now I know what I will be reading between Christmas and New Year.

The series of three articles at the end of the file list in that ZIP were from here:
http://toz35.blogspot.ca/2009/08/vital- ... oting.html
I saved them, with some re-formatting to keep the content clear and without ads etc, as three PDF files. Sadly the author, Anatolii Piddubnyi, died a little over a month ago. I've only encountered him through these articles and a few Facebook posts and other ramblings online, but he seemed a good-humoured man, and his reputation as a pistol coach was among the best in history.

Here's a little about him in the TargetTalk forum:
http://www.targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50788

Unlike many elite coaches, Anatolli was happy to share his experience with anyone from the most awkward but sincere novice to the top shooters in the sport. His participation in forums is especially noteworthy. I've encountered a lot of the opposite attitude, that information is somehow de-valued by its sharing. I've never been a fan of such attitudes, and share as much as I can with my clients so that they are better informed about the nature of my work. Same with hobby forums; it's why we're here, after all! Bob Sterne comes to mind as a similar sort of person whose enthusiasm overflows to the benefit of all who share his interests. Anatolii will be missed.
