Post subject:  Airgun Competitons In SW Ontario?

My daughter (10) enjoys target shooting with me, and she told me the other day that she would love to get into competition shooting. She really enjoys shooting the Red Ryder. So my question is, what type of competition shooting opportunities do we have in South Western Ontario (I'm near Walkerton). Any help would be appreciated.

I'd love to know the answer to that as well. And if the answer is "not much" then we should set something up, especially if plinker can get the new club up and running.

Sounds good. I'd love to help set something up too, if the answer is "not much".

I was in a pistol tourney just this past weekend in Burlington, it was part of CAFTA (Canadian Airgun Field Target Asscciation) and they have rifle tourneys as well!!
They are planning 2 more pistol and 2 more rifle tourneys this winter

This is the best to join for Field target, I was at this match as well...

The 4 other shoots in Burlington are just the winter season, they will also have events usually every months through the summer and fall in Port Colborne, Ontario. Great sport and great people :drinkers:

Thanks for the replies. I had found out about those opportunities before, but Burlington alone is close to 3 hours away one way, I was hoping for something closer. Anyone know how to start something closer to home?

I have held some competitions in Chatham, On but that is not much better for you. I drive from Windsor to Burlington 320Km one way as well as to Port Colborne from Windsor which is 380Km one way a long drive, but always worth it...but I also go to AA meetings, airgunners anonymous that is

Look up 'postal' competitions. You download and print the target and shoot at your own range using the honour system.

Except for trash talking in the forums, there's not much of a social aspect to these. But it's a start.

I think rimfirecentral.com has one for air rifles.

Yep, here's the December thread: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/sh ... p?t=528367
They have a new one every month. Shoot your target and post a pic or scan with your score. On your honour, you have shot the target within the time and equipment contrainsts and at the specified range. Some people even scale their targets down if they need to shoot at a lesser distance.

There are others around, too.
