I have read a lot of posts about cheap target ideas, here are my personal favorites.
I found the dollar store to be a great place to get stuff to shoot at, so I picked up some mini post it pads 4 cm square in 4 colours. There are 400 to a pack, pink, yellow, green, and orange.
I stick 6 or 8 on a sheet of printer paper and clip 2 sheets to my target holder. The yellow is a bit hard to distinguish against the white, the green slightly better, and the pink and orange are the best.
At the moment I'm still honing my skills, so I like to shoot my Browning leverage at 30 yards rested on a Caldwell bag, and my Diana 240 with a basic Bushnell 3x9x32 scope, seated on a cushion at 20 yards.
The Browning is not much of a challenge with the 3x9x40 AO scope, so I'll compliment the post its with some 3/4 inch Avery pricing labels on a separate printer sheet. The post its are about the same size as my flip up metal plinking target, so that once I'm in "the zone" I can consistently plink away at the steel targets. Great fun, and when I start missing a few shots at the metal I can switch back to the paper for feedback.

The dollar stores have 3/4 inch color coding dots as well as 1/4 inch dots.For a real challenge try putting the 1/4 inch dot on the 3/4 inch as a bullseye.I cut up file folders and use them to put the dots on.

Twister you must have laterally shot up a entire dollar store but the safe way... bringing it to you gun rather than your gun to the store.
I love your ideas and your target boxes. Are you going to sell them as kits here ever?

and ledyak... the browning is fun isn't it...you need to get it outside for a long run to really appreciate it. good idea to switch from the reactive to paper to get "feedback"... I will keep that in mind for sure. Search Twisters's posts for more dollar store carnage ideas....

I don't know if I will sell them or not but if someone locally needs one and doesn't have access to tools or wood let me know.

I buy those coloured dots as well, they are super handy!! It is a bit pricy, but I buy 500 sheets packs of #110 card stock at Staples for nice rigid targets and crisp holes.

The dollar store is great for stuff.. I love using mini post it notes too.

I usually just draw a bunch of targets on a loose leaf with a sharpie.
Feels like Im the Zodiac killer obsessively scribbling target shapes into everything.

Try bingo daubers. Cost $1 at any dollar store. Make perfect 3/4" dots. Box of printer paper and a dauber and you have the makings of thousands of paper targets. Heck, you can splurge and buy different colours.

My 5 year old granddaughter made a few targets for me with different colour daubers. She's five. It was easier to find the white patches on the paper to aim at.
