It looks like it was not welded at the sides or the front, With a little bit more fusion , this won't happen. I did hear reports about a guy beating it mercilessly with a 30 foot pound Impact.

It's got really good weld on the back. We didnt want to muck up the front by welding at the top. At 15mm diameter its easily damaged on the front with too much weld. 30 fpe at close distance isn't good for it either lol. It's an easy fix.

Yes it's an easy fix you just put a big groove at the front with some weld in it and then grind it flush again that way it would be connected front and back .Any gap will pack up with lead then act like a log splitter and lever the paddle off I have seen this on ad many field targets were lead has actually wound itself in on the thread of bolts from repetitive hits making them difficult to removed and even splitting the nut that was threaded onto it.

My quad targets after a couple of outings only needed a bit of paint to bring them back to like new condition.Image
