Some background: I bought a 2240 quite a while ago just to take advantage of a sale. I didn’t even go through a single CO2 cartridge before it ended up on my work bench under a pile of junk and I almost forgot about it. Feeling guilty about neglecting it, I ordered a steel breech and Lothar Walther barrel for it…and then all of it sat unassembled, buried under junk on my work bench for another year or so. Fast forward to about a month ago when I caught wind of a new Pistol Division in Field Target. I finally got off my butt and started putting things together. Apart from the BSA 2 power pistol scope, everything on this gun is FACTORY or in other words, readily available from Crosman. Here it is:

This is a standard Crosman muzzle brake, nothing fancy:

This shows the Crosman steel breech and trigger shoe:

This shows how I shot the pistol while testing various pellets:

The .177 Lothar Walther barrel pretty much shoots any decent pellet quite accurately. It likes JSB Express best…but those tend to be just a tad…ahem…too hot  . Not too far behind is the JSB Heavies in 4.52mm. Here is a typical 10 shot group at a measured 25 yards:
Image
This is what it can do at 15 yards:
Image
At 10 yards and closer it can cut a clean single hole using wadcutters with boring repeatability! I was surprised by the valve consistency. Here’s a 10 shot string fired over my chrony:
JSB Heavies
1- 470.0
2- 472.7
3- 472.8
4- 469.4
5- 472.9
6- 472.7
7- 471.0
8- 470.3
9- 471.4
10- 471.4
Average velocity- 471.5
Extreme spread- 3.52
Standard deviation->1.00

I’m very happy with the results and it just goes to show, half decent results are possible for the non-machinists out there.
P.S. The trigger is heavy and gritty and it sucks! But in order to truly live up to the factory non custom monicker, I’m leaving it alone…at least that's what I'm telling people...

WOW! That's amazing accuracy WB, it just goes to show that CO2 is a great power source (the 10m Olympic air pistol record is still held by a CO2 powered pistol for you non believers!)

I guess what accuracy like that, you're not gonna miss in the pistol FT all season...

I reread the post and didn't find anything that said you modded anything...
Are those velocities with everything internal non-modded?

Nice build...

I didn't touch anything internally. I basically took the original 2240 out of the package, strapped on a steel breech, the barrel, the scope, the muzzle brake and trigger shoe. I was thinking of messing with the valve a bit but I'm quite happy with it as is so probably won't...

If you really want to try those JSB Express, try clipping a coil or two off the 2240 hammer spring.... the added benefit will be less report and gas wasted = more shots per cart.... 8)

Some people also wanted to know how much everything cost...no problem. I'll see if the ol' memory is working!

I got the pistol itself on sale at LeBaron for $42.00
I got the steel breech ($30'ish?) and Lothar Walther barrel ($65'ish? from AirGunEric (ScopesandAmmo.com)
I got the scope rings from LeBaron $31.00
I got the scope from Airgunsource.com $69.00
The muzzle brake ($20.00) and trigger shoe ($11.00) I got from D&L
Total investiment: Around $300.00 including taxes?

Remember...I said stock pistol using all Crosman parts...I didn't say it was inexpensive...

Please understand, I’m not posting this seeking accolades about my shooting…as I mentioned before, all shooting thus far has been off a sturdy bench using sandbag rests.
Rather, I’m continually amazed by the ability of this pistol! I can’t believe I just let it sit around neglected for over 2 years and now it’s a favourite!
Here’s a group I shot today at 50 yards, (no wind-indoors). Point of aim was the bullseye of the Gamo target, point of impact for group centre was 12.5 inches low.

10 shots measuring 2.513 inches  ! I think for this kind of performance it deserves a nice set of wood grips (Crosman of course  )

Thanks for the info, it's nice to see such an attainable, plug and play gun from a "cheap, plastic junk" maker perform so well.

I'd be very happy with something similar.
