Just missed the PC match as my first FT event - OK . working to get ready for the next time - in meantime looking for opinions on scopes and mounts for the event - I have Diana 54 - the previous owner recommended Leapers 6x24x50 with a Theoben Mount. Appreciate any and all feedback before I go on wasting money.

Thanks

With that rifle, just make sure there is an iron clad guarantee; a 54 can make short work of a scope that is not rated for the severe recoil of a powerful springer. The mounts mentioned are fine and Sport Match or BKL one piece mounts would be fine as well. If the mount has a built in scope stop, that would be great too.

Good to hear that you'll be taking up FT - it's a tonne of fun.

It can be tough, but spend the most you possibly can on your scope. Honestly, Leapers doesn't make the grade for the most part.

A Bushnell Elite 6-24 or 8-32, front focus is what I always tell people to get. These are the least expensive scope you can buy that are FT capable. If you purchase anything lesser than one of these, you will soon want to upgrade, and when you try to resell a lesser scope you will take a big hit on it. This isn't so for the Elite series, I was actually able to sell mine for what I originally paid for it, as I was able to get a Killer deal on a new one.

You can find these scopes on eBay US for $400 new on occasion if you're patient. With these scopes, you won't regret waiting and spending a bit more.
