Well, I have finally lived up to my word, and I attended my first FT match yesterday.

It was a blast. It was awesome hanging out with everyone, spending a day shooting, and watching others shoot. Even though I was shooting with probably the most primitive rig of anybody there, I still had a ton of fun, and definitely plan to attend future matches.

Now if Powderkeg would just post the photos we'll be all set!

Thanks for an awesome day everyone!

I'm really glad you could make it out Nick. Sorry I could not spend more time getting to know you and the other new shooters, but match day tends to be a little busy for me. I am glad you enjoyed yourself and look forward to seeing you again.

It was great to see you out at a match, Nick. The first of many, I hope.

Every so often, I could hear you, as you pumped up that 2289 of yours, and I remember thinking....jeepers it must be nice to be young ,and full of vim and vigor........just a happy, distant memory for some of us...... :P  .

Ahhh...so THAT was backyard blaster! I heard a 2289 getting pumped as well but didn't make the connection as to who was doing the pumping
Glad you made it out and enjoyed your first match!

Hi there Backyard Blaster (Nick),

Don't feel that you were using "the most primitive rig" during the FT match. The 2289 is a great rifle for ALL events! In fact let me know if you are coming out to the next event in September and I will let you use my Stoeger X20... It has a 3x9-40 scope on it (which has been bore-sighted with RWS Superdomes @ 15 yards) but you are welcomed to use your own scope on it. I'll make damn sure that I'm at Port Colborne at 9:00 am for you to install your own scope if you want, giving you the time to sight it in before the match...

Basically, just come out and have some fun! (Of course if you happen to score higher in the "Hunter's" division than me, I want my rifle back!! And 50% of the Medal! I'll bring the saw!! )

Take care,

NIGHTHAWK

yea, stupid mistake on my part. I will try to be better prepared for next time!

@nighthawk, Is the stoeger .177 or .22? just so I can grab some quality ammo for the next match.

Hey there Backyard Baster,

The Stoeger is .177 and does very well with RWS Superdomes.

Ok Pumpmaster, maybe 9:00am might be a long shot... But I've managed to make it to the other matches between 9:30am and 10:00am... So let's just say, I'll be there before "sight in range" is opened...

See you all in September!

Take care,

NIGHTHAWK

Hey Backyard Blaster (B.B) - I'm happy that you enjoyed your first FT match, especially since you shot it with me. You did quite well with that 2289 you brought out & the other newcomers did well too. Tuff Shoes shot an Under 500 f.p. rig himself.
It was good to meet you & spend the day shooting.
I just posted the 37 stills of the match that I used in the U-tube clip up on Photobucket so you can copy any pics of the match that I got there, a link to the first one follows.
Cheers, - PK
