Re: Price Of Gas
I'm glad I sold my 3/4 ton 4X4. It averaged 20ltrs/100 km. (12 mpg)
My Kia averages 4.5ltrs/100 km. (60+mpg). I could probably go 5 clicks on that fart...

Theory is when you know how something works, but it doesn't.
Practice is when something works, but you don't know why.
In my shop, Theory and Practice are combined!
Nothing works and I don't know why.
Two lathes and too many projects

20 ltrs per 100 kms, is 14.12miles per UK gallon(160ounces)ricksplace wrote:I'm glad I sold my 3/4 ton 4X4. It averaged 20ltrs/100 km. (12 mpg)

It is 11.8 per US gallon (128 ounces)
My 6.7 lt. diesel gets 15mpg around town, and 25mpg on the highway unless pulling the trailer, then drops to 15mpg on the highway.
On our cross country trip, I averaged only 12.8 mpg pulling our trailer. A LOT of that was in excess or 125kph just to keep up with
traffic. In the States, we were doing 130kph (81mph) and getting passed by 34 wheeled tractor trailers. I refused to go faster than
130, pulling this.

“Increase your gas mileage 20-90% by adding a supplemental hydrogen generator to your car!
A supplemental hydrogen generator works simply enough –
you put distilled water in a special canister in your car, and electricity from your car's battery
is used to separate that water into hydrogen and oxygen.

Re: Price Of Gas
In theory, it should work, but in practice there's probably more to it to make it work, I'm not an expert but i think there will come a time we'll see something that will work.

There was a physicist commented below who mentioned the power needed to convert the water to HHO needed to be powered
by another source, other than the vehicle itself.

Re: Price Of Gas
An older club member got excited about the hydrogen and his rv. I quietly laughed. He was looking at maybe a 1930'ish writeup. Thanks for the joke!
Re: Price Of Gas
Took my grandson home to Jackson, Ms this last weekend from Jacksonville Tx. I filled up my 2003 F250 4x4 crew cab long bed with camper top( cab height) the previous weekend for 4.89, same price in Jackson two days ago. I had to come back through Tyler Tx, and got it for 4.29/ga. 363 miles today on 16.9 gal=21.6mpg and that was in a heavy downpour from Monroe La to about Marshall Tx, roughly 160 miles. Last Friday we had a very strong tailwind all the way over and I got 26mpg. I made it a point to keep speed below 65 all the way, mostly around 60 which makes a big difference. If I kick it up to 70-75 the mpg drops to around 18, still not bad for a 8000 pound truck. I do like the way it handles in strong winds and or on very wet roads with standing pools of water, don't hardley know they are there.
