It works fine and have settled on a spring for now so I am good. I have to undo the bolt to remove the spring, (which isn't often) and the thumbscrew and locking nut work very well. Thanks for the offer.

Been sick and doing a bunch of tests since Friday to find out what the hell now is wrong!?!?!
