I came across this, which I think is pretty freaking cool.

It's video footage of Paris from 1896, a point in time in which France was having a cultural boom according to the accompanying article.

Of course, if you're just interested in the video footage, scroll to be bottom of the article.

P.S: I thought video cameras weren't a thing until a decade or so into the 1900's. It's nice to have a historical misconception cleared up.

That is impressive. Would have had to be a very large and expensive camera as cameras around that time frame were hand cranked. That footage seems too smooth to be hand cranked.
Also, someone at some point went to significant lengths and effort to add very convincing audio. Film at that period had no audio tracks in the tape.
You can tell it is not original audio if you watch and listen closely. The actions and audio do differ, albeit, only slightly. It’s well done.
That said, the camera very well may have been hand cranked. If someone went to the lengths to add convincing audio, they likely heavily edited the image and frame rates to clarify and smooth out the footage. Something that would have had to be done single frame by single frame. Each image corrected, aligned, edited, clarified. A monumental feat...
nice find!
