"What's the purpose of fixing the latex band (I am thinking I should call it latex, not rubber, right?) not at its end but fold it for a little and tighten two layers at the frame?"

There are a couple of reasons why I do this. Notec mentioned one. I have never had a band break at the fork but the extra padding is a good precaution. But the main reason for the fold is that I cut my bands long at 10" (then fasten the pouch). Bands usually break right at the pouch. Leaving them long allows me to retie them again and adjust to my desired static length (425-450% elongation). This gives much longer life from a set of bands.

I'm not sure on your reference to an X-shaped frame. I'm guessing you saw an ergo slingshot (ergonomic) with thumb and index finger hooks. The frame design has evolved quite a bit. Some guys still enjoy handcut naturals from various tree types. Others enjoy the various plastic frames with ergonomic shapes. I have a polycarbonate frame by Pocket Predator that I shoot more accurately than any of my others. The stainless steel and wood frames are usually eye catching and can be very comfortable to hold. I also explored the Chinese ring shooter frames using skinny tubing instead of flatband latex. A lot of my frames are homemade from oak, hickory or maple that I found with straight grain.

Here are some pics of most of my collection. It got a bit large so I keep most of them in a totebox.

[emoji38]

Well! That's a big collection ~

I didn't have one when I was a kid as I grown up in the city and been taught about don't use a slingshot, don't break the windows etc all the time... :(

So this one is my second one, and the one before is a very cheap one just like my first 4x20 full plastic scope which bought for 19.99...

The X shape frame refers to your latest gain, the Tianpeng... And do you have a pic for your most favor one mentioned? That most accurate one in your hand... And any trick to pick a good (right) slingshot for yourself?!

My most accurate shooter is the Pocket Predator TTF Mini-Taurus (made in USA). This is the frame on the left in the pics below.
The runner up would be the Chinese made Tianpeng and the Lion Mouth peghead frame. Both of these OTT frames shoot fine.
All the above frames are comfortable to hold and shoot. I just seem to shoot more consistently with the TTF Mini-Taurus.

You have to try out various designs to see which does well with your shooting style. Over-the-top (OTT), through-the-forks (TTF), hammer grip, pincher grip, hammer-pinch, thumb brace, pegheads, tubes, flatbands.

Ah sweet! I always loved slingshots. I had a pocket shot at one time, was super accurate. Just didn't like the short draw on it.
I still have my first slingshot, a Saunders folding falcon. Saved up my allowance and bought it myself.

But if you guys want to see some cool rubber powered contraptions, check out Joerg sprave, the slingshot channel on YouTube. Guy builds some crazy stuff
