Joolz - I had a 1077 a couple of years ago; It might have been my first rifle. I just couldn't get to like the trigger on it and you're right about it being a pain to keep feeding it carts. At the time I tried to get an Airsource adapter but was unsuccessful, so I sold the gun. Back then I was such a rookie I didn't know you could keep whole collections of guns - I haven't sold a gun since. :lol:

I have no experience with refillable CO2 bottles. I assume from your post that you have the Airsource adapter - but I guess you are either going to have to try one to see if it fits, or do some careful measuring of diameters and compare. By the way, I believe the Airsource adapter allows you to shut off the 88g cart and remove the whole adapter from the gun without losing all the CO2.

I picked up the last PAL CX4 AirgunSource had a few months ago. Very nice indeed but I don't see a need to use the 12g adaptors; I really like the rapid fire stability the big cartridge offers. It does cost more but it's still nothing compared to the 9mm version (my first idea... :twisted: ) and you can leave it in part-used with no ill effects.
Not sure if it is a keeper yet, it's good with a dot sight but I'm waiting for a scope I ordered from Amazon to test its real accuracy. I bought a riser for that which has already arrived so just waiting on the scope now.
If it is one to hang on to I might consider getting this and a pump to run it on air. It will need a hold cut in the cover that goes on the end of the stock though so maybe not, seems it would spoil it:

I probably shouldn't be saying this, but last year I experimented with drilling out, tapping and installing a quick fill adaptor into the bottom of an 88 gram cylinder. There is actually a fair bit of meat to tap into and the fill adaptor had a tight fit. Long story short, the conversion worked. I only attempted this because in working mode, the cylinder was mounted such that if the adaptor blew out, it would fly forward.

Well you have to live up to your username; nice one.
I won't try it; I don't have the tools or skill. Especially the skill. (Or tools).
My scope arrived but I just found the CO2 I left in a few weeks ago is almost empty and I'm not committing another cylinder to it in this weather, or at least until I get a safe indoor range set up downstairs. Also the riser is a bit loose so I need to shim that with something so it tightens down a bit better.

Say, what did you use to refill the 88g cartridge? By any chance was it a 20oz bottle used by paintballers? I ask cause these are cheap to buy and there's a place close to us that will refill them for very cheap (Badlands Paintball). And was it hard to get a hose from the supply bottle to the cartridge?

Possible to post some pics? Don't think there's a need for such hesitation, just this past week I bought a lighter refill kit from princess auto. And I thought refilling these were illegal. Parently not.

Nope, I have a 5 lb bulk bottle to feed both my 2079 and brad nailers. I no longer have the converted unit (I re-converted it into a barrel weight for my benji classic). Things tend to morph from one thing to another rather quickly around here. I scrapped the 88 gr unit when I got my hands on two Rage 4oz mini tanks.

That's too bad, you seem to provide a solution to the dilemma I'm having with investing in these 90g carts. The math doesn't work in their favour, not when it costs double what it'd cost me to use regular 12g carts. It doesn't help that the only place I know of that sells 88 or 90g carts to be Can Tire although I still need to call around.

Suppose an alternative would be to add a relief valve directly to the 1077, as some have done to their 2240. No idea if this can be done but it'd be a solution to the biggest headache of using 12g carts: emptying the remaining gas once your last usable shot has been fired.
