And now for something completely different!

Earlier this year I’ve found a S&W M&P40 real cheap on Kijiji…The all plastic non blowback version. I then stated to look around the net for ideas to change its looks. Maybe a nice paint job or try some stripling?
Then I bumped into this very cool looking 1911 dressed up into a P-51 Mustang!

Now being also a WW2 aviation scale modeller, my mind just went AWOL thinking of all the possibilities here…
Lets see...what I have is an M&P40 right? Hummmm :?:

This is a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk (Kittyhawk for the British). Made famous by the American Volunteer Group (AVG) fighting in China also known as the Flying Tigers. But what is lesser known is that the AVG borrowed the idea of the shark mouth from the 112th British squadron in North Africa. Several Canadian pilots were part of the 112th.

Although outclassed by German and Japanese fighters even before the start of the war the P-40 was the third most-produced American fighter, after the P-51 Mustang and P-47 Thunderbolt. It was the only modern fighter available in numbers early in the war and saw service on all major theaters and was quickly replaced when the better P-38, P-47 and P-51 became available. But remained in production until late 1944 and served very well in low altitude fighter and ground attack plane.

I guess you know where I’m going with this hey?
This is my tribute to the Curtiss P-40 who played a critical role for the allies at time when very little else could be thrown at the enemy and the brave pilots who flew them.

My Curtiss M&P-40 8) is painted in the standard British camouflage of Dark Green, Dark Earth over Azur Blue underside. The roundel and fin flash types are of the 1941-42 era standard. The main colors were airbrushed. The roundels and shark mouth are hand painted. Two coats of semi-gloss clear coat sealed and blends the finish.
Hope you like it…

I wouldn't do it to a real firearm however quite a fun looking project for the value priced bb gun. Well done.
