Got this clone of a Sig P226 used from a forum member at a very good price.
It's actually a KWC model 226-S5. It had (and still has) many miles on it so the finish was worn out a few places.

So I thought this gun could use a little face lift.
I also thought that the Sig style grips without the actual Sig Sauer letters (or P226 depending on the model) looked kind of weird.
It's like if the gun was screaming "Look I'm a Sig" but the grips were saying "No your not" :o

So here's the result before and after

I did some stippling on the grips. I first scrape off the grips with an X-Acto blade and then sand it smooth.
Then wrapped a nail around the tip of my soldering gun and wedged it in place. I traced my pattern on the grips and stippled away just touching the nail's head on the grips. A little sanding to smooth out rough edges and next spayed three coats of automotive clear coat.
The gun barrel and magazine well are metallic grey paint plus clear coats. Guide rod and mag extension are just bare metal and polished.
Slide is plain aluminum paint I had laying around...
Not the best finish I would have liked but it will do... Overall better looking than just plain black I think.
Thanks for watching.

Not a big fan of the shiny grip. The silver silver slide looks good. The polished mag extension is gorgeous, makes it look like a race gun, I love it.

Thanks for your kind words everyone :)

Because if the heavy sanding that had to be done the grips finish was dull, uneven and overall grayish. I guess I could have painted them flat or semi-gloss black but I wanted to make the grips stand out a bit from the rest of the frame.

And yes I really like the effect of the polished mag extension 8)
But to stay polished it needs a clear coat of varnish otherwise the pot metal will tarnish over time.

Depends on the product you use. I polished a slide from a Tanfoglio Witness quite a long time ago (when they first came out) and it still shines like a mirror.
My SIG barrel was getting scratched so I sanded the fake outer barrel to a brushed look but seeing yours I'm thinking of getting some parts shinier too
