Alright ~ finished the second stock job in my life!!

Met and got this old beauty in a sudden. She's from a hand of previous medals winner which made it a great shooter not a wall display piece. With some experience from working on my HW30, I started this job slowly and about 90% completed today. Can't wait to share the pictures to my friends~

Learnt and used something new in this time, like stippling~ Very interesting and not difficult to do in a hand without any previous experience, then just give out very good result to re finish the wron out and smoothed old stippling area.

A Discovery HD 10x44 fixed power scope incoming to put on the action... Can't wait to shoot this gun again~ Just took about 10 shots when I brought home this rifle then the stock was removed...

Pictures here~

The factory stippling would have been done with a punch, not by taking material away

Learned 'stippling' from the woodworking websites and the UK forum... however in the whole process I carried the question about why I have to use such a tiny engraving head to give a result close to what I found on the original finish... although I have no idea about using a punch to make it, it seems also another way to finish the job tho...

It shoots really nicely on the testing before I started the stock job. Laser like, and powerful, interesting and effective recoiless system. Don't know when I can give it a more farther range to shoot...

Beautiful job on the stock. The gun is in the right hands. Looking forward to you finishing the stock, mounting the scope and sending pics of those five or ten shot one hole groups. Once we are able get outside or go to clubs, you will be surprised at the groups you can shoot from 20 to 55 yards.

Thanks~ and the stippling punches looks great~ One quick question... if used the punch, doesn't the stippling area will look evenly and ordered.... but why the pattern actually looks so ramdamly placed?!

When stippling with punches, there is some overlap and hitting twice or more times, etc. It still makes for an uneven surface, slightly lower than the surrounding surfaces.
There is some wood loss with both systems.I just did a quick google search and got the Brownell's picture. I've seen punches with only 2 or 3 points filed on the ends of nails.

The two main reasons I could think of
- Keeping it original
- Minimizing the loss of re-sale value

The little pock-holes looks a bit strange in closeup, but overall looks good, YepYep.
