A friend showed me the .177 springer he had as a kid
Writing on it is, COENAHO B CCCP VOSTOK N*-38
Has some obscure symbols on it and a simple shield with an arrow.
Small lever on ther left side to break open and a very nice stock with a but plate and a plate on the bottom of the grip.
Just curious if any one has any info.
Tks :toimonster:

I have two of those and they are what turned me off springers for about 10 years. Built well enough but plagued with a weak latch up that makes shots flip out very low. A kids gun for shooting mice and bottle caps.
Cheers,

I believe I answered this question already, over when you or your friend posted it over at airsoftcanada.com

Heres a copy paste of my post there:

Hmm lets see - Im guessing the model number says ИЖ-38П, which sounds as IZH-38P.

Is that it? Looks like a break-barrel to me!

EDIT:here are the reviews...
http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews67276.html

Supposedly over 500fps...

Cheers,
Alex

Alex, indeed that is the 38 as mine are. They are definitely NOT over 500fps they are lucky to do 400fps. They are absolutely the most gutless airgun I have shot.

mid 400's with 7.5gr pellets, honestly I have no complaints about mine. accuracy is quite good if you can get around the rudimentary trigger and a little hold sensitivety. barrel lockup has been good, especially considering I had a tendency to do what shouldn't be done. IIRC, at the time they were selling for just under $50, a better gun than most comparable chinese guns.

I just got my hands on one of these!
in for a tune.
in very good condition, and shooting strong
Using Norica match at 7.48 gr. it is shooting 506.57 avg.dev was 18,
pretty good for an old gun.
On the bench now.
Not sure if I can make it better or how accurate it is yet, but will let all know how the tune goes good or bad.

So tore this one down on the weekend.
Working on it for a friends girlfriend.
Like I said it was shooting strong.
There were some new things to the disassembly for me so will share this.
Came apart easy enough, not a big load on the spring, but there is a small pin that must be depressed on the side so trigger assembly can come out. Push this down before knocking out the pin. See it circled in yellow on the pic.
For a gun that was shooting strong the old seal was in bad shape, but still a good fit in the air chamber. Still amazed it chronied so good.
Air chamber was in very good condition, but at the bottom there was another leather seal, looks like the piston seal hit it and reduced slap? not sure, but I left It alone as the piston seal was installed with mismatched threads on the retaining screw and I assumed the same for the bottom. it did seem to be in good condition anyway.
I did a quick crosshatch and buff of the cylinder and polished the spring guide and spring. the guide is solid cast or hot rolled steel, either way it had some bumps that needed removal.
I made a new seal out of UHMW with a design I have been using for a while.
Figuring if I did not get a better result, then I could get or make a new leather seal.
I did not go over the top on this one as it was working good, and its intended use was only plinking anyway.
I did some deburring on the chamber to prevent chewing up of the seal on its way in.
My impression is it is a general retail gun of days of old, nothing special, but built to last.
After re-assembly, I put 50 rounds through it to break it in a bit. then back up on the chrony.
No big results here, but an improvement in consistency.
So previous was 506, and after a little tune, 536 but extreme dev went from 18 to 10 fps.
This is with a 7.48 grain pellet.
Using a heavy like the CPUM dome at 10.5 was considerably slower starting at 378, and up to 412 after.
I tested the accuracy when rested on the chrony, not the best at over 1.5 inches at 50 ft, but still perfect for shooting tin cans.

It is a fairly easy pull to cock it, with a small lever to release the lock. The trigger though non adjustable was pretty good anyway.
The rear sight had vertical adjustment only and the front sight was shrouded.
It seemed to shoot a little right to me.
I just got a text from my buddies girlfriend, and she loves it, she is shooting tin cans at about 30 - 35 yds and she is picking it off every time, so she is happy! Poor little tin :D
As far as history or other info, I could not find much.
I will add a second and third post to place more pics.
