Hey everybody new to here and airgunning, just got myself a 781 crosman (yeah yeah i know it probably crappy to you but I think its a lot of fun) Anyway, I understand this has probably been asked a billion times and I ask for your forgiveness Ic ouldnt find an answer. What Retailers can I buy Pellgun Oil from for my gun, I cant get it from the store i got the gun from. If not, what other oils work just as well that wont wreck my gun. Does wal-mart have this stuff. O yeah and just to clarify , I understand shooting the rod from a Q tip through my .177 caliber gun will clean up the barrel just fine? Thanks alot for the responses and help because i have already shot at least 300 rounds with no re-lubrication. EEK

Anyway, I understand this has probably been asked a billion times and I ask for your forgiveness Ic ouldnt find an answer. What Retailers can I buy Pellgun Oil from for my gun, I cant get it from the store i got the gun from. Both Canadian Tire and Wally World should sell it. If not, what other oils work just as well that wont wreck my gun. You can also use SAE W30 Non- Detergent Motor Oil. Does wal-mart have this stuff. Yeh. O yeah and just to clarify , I understand shooting the rod from a Q tip through my .177 caliber gun will clean up the barrel just fine? That should work, but I would rather push a wad or cotton/Kleenex through the barrel wuith a long thin dowel. Thanks alot for the responses and help because i have already shot at least 300 rounds with no re-lubrication. EEK Pfft, no big deal, crosman guns always have lube in them already.

BTW: Welcome to the forum brother, you seem like a moderatly intelligent person!! Enjoy your stay.

I happened to notice today that Wal-Mart is still selling Pellgunoil for $1 a tube, typically $4 at Canadian Tire. It is handy for carrying around in that size, if you put a drop on your bulbs, but is awfully expensive compared to non-detergent motor oil which many like.

REALLY?!? Awesome!! The big bottle is good for oiling parts when modding, but it is a hassle for regular maintenance!! Thanks for the tip dude, I'll go check it out.

Just a little side note......dont ever take this gun apart......what a pain in the buttock to get the springs back in  But I have hands like a gorilla.....small isnt good with me.

I think I'm the only one who buys the Pellgunoil at the local WM. I bought most of the "hanger" a few months ago and there's still the same amount left. [I check the airgun section every week, still looking for that regular (no scope) 953.]

Anyway, I bought a bunch of the $1 tubes to give away to people who do little airgun things for me, but nobody so far has wanted it! LOL

I also noticed a few people mentioned looking at Canadian Tire for some decent airguns. On the website, every last one of their air guns is 495 which highly appeals to me. Just as a quick mini-poll, which of the SCOPED rifles on the following page would be a worthwhile upgrade from my 781 after I got sick of it. What are the break barrels like, they kind of turn me off. Thanks again

CTC has to put that Velocity on there airguns, but there alot less then what they state. The Beeman 1040/GT-650 in the manual is rated for 490-(fps). This is just done as a sales tecnic to sell them. But they all can be modded to up it to the legal 500 mark if you don't have your PAL. But I would get a Chronometer just incase you make it over the limit... :)

Mike...

Welcome to the forum, what do you mean by what are they like? Shooting them is mcuh different then your 781 because these guns have recoil, not much though. Also CT over prices alot, the beeman 1041 which would be my pick sells for 149.99 at SIR mailorder last time I checked.

Wrong pic? Thats strange? Looks the same as the one on CTs website (at a quick glance anyway)

One thing I noticed, I take it you are supposed to store all guns barrel up at all times? 8) I happened to leave it on its side and oil leaked everywhere!

Also , Must i have and fill out the firearms licence information even if I am just purchasing an airgun (that is not considered a firearm)

if the airgun is under 500 fps and 4.2 foot pounds you do not need to do any licencing unless its store policy (id tell them to keep the gun if that was the case) if the gun has enough oil to leak out then its over lubed IMO

i make it a habit NEVER to store any gun leaning the muzzel against a wall for accuracy sake

Oh ok, what about laying on its side in the open..............

I really wish I could find a 455-500 fps scoped Pellet and BB rifle
