Christmas Fun Match & Gift exchange
Saturday, December 13, 2008 – *10:30 AM*
At the Elmira Rod & Gun Club
After another very successful season for field target in Canada, it is time to relax and have a fun time at the Annual Christmas Match in Waterloo. This has always been a great time to relax, socialize and do some fun shooting. The results will be alphabetical, as we figure everyone wins at this match. There will be lots of fun on the indoor range with rifles and pistols on still and moving targets. There will also be a 30 shot outdoor FT match that you can participate in if you choose.
As usual, there will be hot chocolate available throughout the day and sub platters will be delivered in the afternoon with a great variety of subs cut into handy sizes.
The gift exchange will be a part of the day as well. If you want to participate, buy a gift for approximately $10 and put it on the gift table when you arrive. If you bring a gift, you will get one when we exchange. If you choose not to participate or do not have enough time to buy a gift, that is fine.
If you own a repeating pistol such as the Crosman, Umarex or Gamo variety that has at least a six shot magazine, please bring it along. If you do not have one, there will be pistols available for you to use.
The fee for this match will be $10 in order to pay for the use of the club and for the food. Please note also that the starting time has been moved to 10:30 AM in order to get the great variety of events completed.
Please let us know as soon as you can if you will or will not be able to attend. It will help the directors to know the number of consumable targets they will need and how much food and drink to have on hand. Please send your response to Tim MacSweyn.
Do your best to make it to this Christmas Celebration to enjoy the company of your fellow FT shooters and have a blast shooting in all the fun events. This is a unique activity and it will just make you feel good to be a part of the closing event of the 2008 Canadian Field Target year.

Match Directors are: Hans Bormann and George Harde

Great pics as always EW! (you have a PM...)
The Christmas match wrapped up my first year shooting FT, and it was a great day.
Shooting out in the snow was something I had never done, and it made for some unique challenges. For those of us who sit in the traditional FT style, getting a good footing was especially tricky on ice covered platforms
Since there really weren't any division rules this time out I decided to crank up the magnification on my Leapers for the first time to see what it was like. First thing I noticed was how tricky target acquisition can be at 32x! I can only image what it's like at 50x.
The second thing I noticed was how much more obvious a scope will "snap" in and out of focus at higher magnification. I can't wait to start range-finding with a scope next season.
I purchased a beautiful new gun case, picked up a single shot adapter for my S410 and was pleasantly surprised with a nice award at the end of the day. All-in-all a great end to a great season.
Thanks again to everyone who has made my first season so great, look forward to seeing you all next spring.

That looks like a great day... if a bit cold... I've never shot in snow that deep, only mud

I'm not sure which is a better workout, walking through the snow or the mud....

Mud, as the workout continues until the clothes and gear are clean. :(

Snow is nice and clean and target visibility in certainly not an issue. 8)
