Well guys, our own George Harde is representing Canada at the World FT Championships in South Africa. It seems he has had a rough first day. Any of the Canadian FT shooters know that he can shoot very well indeed so his score of 13/50 is definitely atypical.

You can see the results from the first day here:

http://www.ft-worlds2009.co.za/worlds_2009/all_scores.pdf

Keep in mind he is one of the minority shooting a spring gun.

Hi wife said that his gun was real beat up from the trip, like someone dropped it from about 10ft and dragged it, is how he described it to her. He took it apart and worked on it, but I have not heard how that went.

It was raining and he said some targets were barely visible in the jungle like growth. He had a real hard time seeing them through the scope. From the picture, it looks like he is using a 4200, 8-32 which is quite bright and you can power it down as well, so it must have been pretty dark.

We'll see how he does on day two.

It's so great to see George there representing Canada, but ugh...it must be so frustrating to get all the way there only to find your equipment not in top form.
Here's hoping he got things straightened out for day two!

George's score did go up today.

http://www.ft-worlds2009.co.za/worlds_2 ... scores.pdf

Hard to know how he is doing since it does not show who is shooting piston or PCP. He is ahead of Andy Kays who has been a very good piston shooter over the years. One more day and hopefully they will categorize all the scores so we know where he stands compared to the other piston shooters. If I hear anything from his wife, I will pass it on.

Thanks Dennis

I looked down at the bottom. With a good day, he could end up fourth.

I emailed Lisa, George's wife and she could not get through to George on the phone for more than a few seconds at a time due to sever thunder storms. She is pretty sure he replaced the spring in his gun when he had it apart. He was pretty bummed out after the first day, but was glad his score was much better today. She said she will email me once she gets to talk to him tomorrow afternoon our time and evening over in SA.

Well for those that are following his progress George had more trouble with his gun today and ended up with an 8th place finish.

George is bringing home an eighth place award from the World Championships, which is no small accomplishment. For those of us that know how well George shoots, you cannot help but wonder where he would have placed with a healthy gun. I look forward to shaking his hand and congratulating him as well as hearing all the stories he will have for us.

Congratulations George, too bad your rig acted up, but the ultimate test is how well you are able to adjust and perform when all doesn't go according to plan - and you did excellent!

We look forward to your safe return and hearing all about your journey.

I *think* Austria has already said they are unable to host, so I *think* Belgium is hosting next year.
