As promised, here is the results of my meeting last night wth the Executive committee of the Mission and District Rod and Gun Club ( http://www.missionrodandgun.com/default.htm )
There will be a meeting of anyone interested in starting an Airgun Field Target group at the clubhouse of the MDRGC on Saturday the 6th of February at 12pm. We can move to the 50M pistol range after to do some paper punching.
I have negotiated the nominal use of a 30 lane 3D archery course for AFT, however, the course is in a re-development stage and there are only 20 lanes available right now. Members of the club or group should be willing to lend a hand with the development and maintenance of the archery lanes.
I have asked for and recieved tentative permission, pending the formation of a club or group, to call the MDRGC the "home" of AFT in BC.
The idea of AFT was generally very well recieved by the Executive. One of the committee members is familiar with and shoots airguns, which went well with my presentation. I brought along a couple of Sruffies targets, which were well recieved.
For liability and insurance issues, upon formation of a group or club, regular group or club members must join the MDRGC, or be a member of another gun club in BC.

It now comes down to us, the people in the Greater Vancouver area who wish to form a group and start sooting AFT in BC. How many of you will I see on the 6th of February? I've done my part, now it's your turn.

Well done, if you ever get something on the Island I'm in. Otherwise it will depend totally on if I'm on the mainland for something else, can't afford to travel there for sport :)

cheers
Jeff

Good on you BCAirgunner. You certainly have done your part in finding a club that already has the archery lanes are are willing to share them with you. AFT in BC would be fantastic.

I sincerely hope that the shooters in the area will honour you initiative and come out to support your efforts. Come on guys, I have a trip planned to the west in a couple of years and it would be great to come and shoot a match with you. The Ontario guys are always looking for road trips.

I am cheering for you for sure.

Tim

How far is Mission from Van? I travel to Van 2x a year for business from Ottawa & will attend a shoot when you are running if possible.

Thanks everyone for your support! I hope that this is the beginning of AFT here on the wet coast.
lh, The club is situated just outside of Mission, and is about an hour drive East from Vancouver. Driving time will vary depending on where in the city you start from. I hope to be able to post a schedule in the very near future!

Time to find a really low-profile case and walk over. Anyone able to grab me at the Ferry?

I will be down for a shoot in March.

Maybe there will be a shoot some time around the 20th Fingers crossed

How is this coming along. I will most certainly do my part when I get there in June. I'll pack all 25 my FT targets in the container that will ship our stuff across, and will donate them to the club. Maybe I can get another 25 so we have a full 50. The guy who made the targets for the 2009 FT worlds doesn't live too far away from me.

Hi Old Van. If you were to bring the targets, we would be able to shoot FT in BC. Right now we have been working towards having enough targets to get a fun shoot going. 25 as a start, and an offer for another 25, I will have to say, I'm ready to fall out of my chair at your kind offer! On behalf of everyone here, I say Thank you very much! I look forward to meeting you and shooting with you at the club.
