I don't know if you can still get them but I had some small darts that were made for air guns .I think they were 22 cal. Don't know if they are still legal.

The absolute best choice to destroy rifling in a barrel.

There are Crosman based dart guns and others but they are of a very large bore, shortrange compared to pellets, and of course pricey.

Can't really think where or why I would ever use one.

To buy a Tranquilizer Projector (that is the correct name for them) new, TMK, you are required to have a valid Veterinary licence.

The vintage projectors can often be found at gun shows, but rarely come with the darts. Cap Chur, and Palmer Chemical were just a couple of the manufacturers of these projectors that used the old Crosman 150 pistols, and the Crosman 160 rifles as the basis for their conversions. These projectors are usually .50 cal. and both smoothbore and rifled barrels can be found.

Since they generally shoot at sub 500 FPS velocity, TMK, there are no regs regarding the possession of the actual projector - the only regs applicable would likely be with regard to the syringe/dart units.

Those darts were originally used for pub and parlour shooting, going quite a ways back. They were available in a great number of calibers popular at that time, right up to around .32 cal. Manufacturers, such as Webley, offered smoothbore barrels for some models of their air pistols, such as the Senior, specifically for use with these darts.
I currently have specimens of these same type of darts in my airgun ammo collection, in .177 cal.; .21 cal.; .22 cal.; and .25 cal.

As pointed out by Randy - DO NOT use these in a rifled bore - it will damage the rifling.

I have seen them on Gunbroker, Auction Arms, and even eBay from time to time. eBay would likely cancel any listed though.

If the Marksman 2000K at Canadian Tire is the same as the Marksman 1010C... avoid it like the plague! It is possibly the worst airgun ever made.

When I was 10yrs. old my dad introduced me to pistol shooting. It was a Diana smooth bore with some sort of barrel shroud that extended out from the barrel. This was pushed in until it locked and it was ready to shoot darts at a dart board. 52yrs ago.

In the first edition of "Air Gun Digest" by R. Beeman, on page 49 there is an article
with some pictures of the two Crosman conversions, the 150 pistol and the 160 rifle.
It was Palmer Chemical Co. of Atlanta Georgia, and was trademarked under the name "Cap-Chur".

As far as I know, there have been just three editions:
1977, 1988 and 1995.
These are collector's items for those who collect air gun books.
