Hello,
We are starting up a Field Target club in Hanna and are looking for other Albertans that may be involved and/or interested in Field Target.

Hey Pepper

Glad to see you have signed up.

I hope the guys that have been shooting in the Calgary area will chime in and support your efforts.

Perhaps it is the time of year, but I am certainly scratching my head on this.

There were 21 shooters at an indoor event in Olds, which is just down the road from Hanna and yet no one has said anything about the news of an outdoor FT range being made available in the area.

Hmmm.

Curious that this is 17pepper's first appearance here.

Let's hear the goods pepper and perhaps we are running in parallel and could help each other out.

How about a proper introduction for starters.

Thanks for the feedback. There are not a lot of details yet since we are just getting started. My husband and I are building an outdoor FT range on our farm and we are part of a small group of individuals starting up a FT club here in Hanna. My brother, George Harde competes nationally as well as internationally and currently ranks number 1 in Canada in the spring piston division (11th in the world - Italy 2011). He has been instrumental in generating a great deal of local interest. We are hoping to tap into some of his experience and expertise as we get the club up and running. We are also planning on becoming members of CAFTA and will follow the CAFTA shoot rules and bi-laws. At present, we are at the beginning of the learning curve but plan on having a great deal of fun and hope to develop some level of skill eventually. We were not aware of any other existing FT clubs in Alberta and were putting out feelers to see who already exists or who might be interested. We would love to collaborate with any other existing clubs or interested individuals.

Pepper, that sounds awesome. We are about 20 or so members that meet at Olds. I think what you are doing sounds like something really good for Alberta airgunners. Contact Rocker45 and see what us old farts can help out with.

Wow, FT for Alberta :)

Walter, just wanted to confirm all that 17Pepper said. Along with George's many years in the sport here in Ontario, and his international shooting experience, he is also one the the six CAFTA governors. So he will be a great help to start the club there. This club will develop quickly.

This is very exciting.

Will look forward to meeting you 17Pepper! Way to go. Tell George hello from Chris.

Hi 17pepper

We are the Alberta Informal Recreational - Field Target group - AIR FT .
We are a group of people that get together about once - everyother month .
We shoot at the Weekend Warriors Paint Ball site . We rent the inside area . The members range from Edmonton to Stavely and everywhere inbetween . We are always looking for new members and everyone is welcome . Just bring a great attitude and smiles [ along with safe shooting skills ] . We have some junior members as well. We range from 72 years old to 12 .
We will be having another meet on November 26th . We will meet at Smitty's in Olds around 10 for breakfast . Be at the Weekend Warriors site for 12 till 6 - with a BBQ around 3ish.
You and anyone else in your area are more than welcome to join us . Just pm me so I can keep track of numbers .
Anything that I or anyother members can help with - just ask .

Welcome to the forum - it is a great place with alot of knowledgeable people - someday I hope to be one [ re- my latest purchase - lol ]

Brian

This is very good for Alberta AND Canada :)

!7Pepper, this is great! Please fill us in on what you need from 'us'.

As Rocker45 says please feel welcome to shoot with us at Olds if at all possible.

When will you have a shoot? I would love to shoot a FT event and learn how.

Great news. I've never been to Hanna but I think that is going to change.
Best of luck getting things started. Let us know what we can do to help.

Thank you for the very encouraging feedback and invite to the November shoot in Olds. It will be a great opportunity to meet your group and swap ideas. We would also be very grateful to be able to tap into your clubs expertise and experience with Field Target. My husband and I and our two teens do plan to be there. I grew up just west of Bowden so it will be a trip home.

Sounds good to me !

Indoors during the winter months, outdoors for the summer months.....great news.

Still haven't had the chance to try the "9mm CANON" out on gophers yet......so will have to settle for targets meanwhile (good backstop ?).
